Another mutli building for the rich. Im sure council will pound that one through. Just what we need is moe half million dollar cubes. These buildings are getting uglier.

The sign has been up for weeks. Such a shame, this hostel has been here for at least 30 yrs. Where would all the parking go for a 5 storey building. Insane

Everything that is happening is a shame in Kelowna. It is no longer the place we know and loved. We have lost an amazing place to live.

The Okanagan needs the Kelowna International Hostel to remain or provide a replacement hostel if the development proposal is to be approved from city planners. The development permit is not in the best interest of Kelowna. City planners must decline the development application and tell the owner of the Kelowna International Hostel to find a business purchaser that can keep the existing operation in place.

This is the second neighborhood that I have lived in that this is happening to, in the last couple of years. Happened to Rutland last year and then just moved to Richter last summer and the same thing will be happening on my street down the road shortly and we will be forced to move...again. Apartments and 4 plex takeovers of all single family dwellings all over the city is not going to solve the housing crisis, as most of those tiny apartments cost more to rent than the little houses...so who is making all the money on these "projects"? Who do you think can afford to live there for an $1800/month tiny one bedroom with no space or storage or parking?
Work a career fulltime and have side jobs in this city and you can barely survive, all the while we get pushed out. Funny to keep accomodating the out-of-town money makers while pushing out the locals....until they want to go out to restaurants and they have no service staff as nobody can afford to live here anymore!
So way to go City of Kelowna council...keep approving the land re-developments in every neighborhood and pushing out the hardworking class! Please let me know how to apply for a free mini home as pretty soon that's where most of us are going to end up :(
