Let's be straight, the lawyers aren't fighting this for the benefit of "the people", they're fighting it to try and retain their BIG PIECE of the PIE they get for fighting it out with ICBC.

I agree with you, but I think you have to admit, ICBC has opened the door to their complaints with the way they have implemented their new no fault system.

There are just some circumstances that require more help than a minimal wage replacement cheque and rehab benefits.

The pendulum was way over to the tort side and now has swung back too far to the no fault system, I think the appropriate spot is somewhere in the middle, but controlling the plaintiff bar with the tort option available would be a challenge.

Going from an able body person to a wheelchair bound person in blink of an eye because another driver screwed up terribly.
Takes probably a hell of a lot more than ICBC is willing to pay out for.

I feel for this guy! I was in an accident last year that was completely not may fault and resulted in me being unable to provide care for myself, cook, clean or live independently for a long while. It took ICBC over 6 weeks to get an assessment of my situation before they could provide any assistance. When I finally received help the lady that came to my house was appalled at the situation ICBC left me in but said she was seeing more and more people in the same situation I was in. ICBC does not care for the people that pay premiums they just care about raking in as much of our cash as possible and paying out as little as possible. Enhanced care under the new ICBC model isn't enhanced at all. It's a joke and should be changed to make sure people are recovering and receiving care.

It’s unbelievable that it should take 6 weeks for them to assess your situation and provide you with the assistance you needed and were entitled to. That is just appalling. When they decided to go with this model of insurance they should have had everything in place to best look after the injured people. It’s not that difficult in this day of computers. Sadly, it’s going to take people hiring lawyers to go after ICBC in order to get what we pay insurance for. People are not asking for the moon, they just want what they paid for.
