Re: Friendly Kelowna?
After reading some of the posts I mentioned it to a couple of my neighbours. I thought perhaps I was seeing things through rose coloured glasses. One neighbour who moved here from Vancouver a couple of years ago and another couple who are from Ireland, both said that although they have heard that we are not the friendliest place they have encountered great people on the whole. I guess I am just fortunate to work with good people, live in a neighbourhood with good people and tend to shop at friendly places. I fully intend to keep doing what I'm doing as it seems to be working amazingly well.

next time I go shopping or out to dinner in Kelowna I am going to be so nice and friendly people will want to institutionalize me. They'll be pointing and shouting "OMG!!! look away, don't make eye contact, here comes that happy lady again."

we find friendly people everywhere too. of course there are grouches thrown in here and there but that's life. mostly we see nice people that smile and say hi when we meet them on the street and friendly people working in the different businesses we go into. i think it a lot of it is in our attitude.

Is not.

Well, a tiny bit of it can be. I'm friendly and smilie where ever I am, and it just didn't matter in Kelowna. I'd get the odd friendly hi and eye contact, but mostly I found people how *bleep* described them....indifferent. I made a few trips to NS before moving here permanently. Seriously, the difference in true friendly people was alarmingly different.

I agree Ferri, I've been told I smile alot and I think it's harder for people to be miserable if you are pleasant to them first ( or maybe they just think I'm insane and smile and nod to keep me appeased)
I worked customer service for many years while I was in school and learnt that no matter how pissy you are feeling, you need to leave the negativity at home. Life is what you make of it, and I try to make the most of it.

Well mk, if you think Kelowna is friendly, you would have heart palpitations I'm sure if you ever visit the Maritimes.

Re: Friendly Kelowna?
Although I've met friendly people here and try to be friendly myself, I find too many people are caught up in what they have instead of who they are.
They say you can't believe everything they say.
