Immigrants . . .
Re: IMMIGRANTS...
I moved here to the colonies almost 5 years ago... man it's flown by!... my experience with the average canadian has been positive... nice folk
I've always been greeted with respect and usually an interest in England, cant say I have ever got the feeling anyone resents me... not to my face anyway lol

I dont think its too odd a question if you're an immigrant, I think most are guilty of generalizing and putting people from different countries into groups...like
England...snobby refer to themselves as 'one' and constantly sips tea...etc etc
Usa.... well they're all full of themselves and arrogant too
East Indian...are able to move to any country without hindrance and change its laws
Scottish... well they're just tight with money.. ( actually copper wire WAS invented by two scotsmen fighting over a penny)
Irish... most of them are drunks who sing songs of Ireland when they're on vacation
and there's more..... so I think what the poster is hoping for is a general view of how people from their country are viewed... personally I have not met anyone actually from Italy I liked... not saying all Italians are that way but the ones I have met I've found to be all about glitz and glam and know absolutely everything there is to know in the universe...I have met some wonderful people of Italian decent right here in town though.... very big hearted and kind and quite the opposite....
There's good and bad from every nation...as soon as we realize that our individual personalities are a million more times more diverse than our respective countries all put together the better

Sorry being from Toronto, I just don't think like that, and it is odd. People are just people (and I have travelled across Europe).Saxon wrote:ami2much4u wrote:i just find that question a tad odd.

No need to be sorry...It's a good thing though I suppose that you do find it odd as people are just people.... that shows you are not judgemental at all....well to me it does

Now Savon how can you lead us to believe the second statement is not true when you refer to us as the colonies in your first post.
When my aunt and uncle came to visit us a few years ago they constantly referred to us as "the colony". It was with great difficulty that I was able to convince them that we were in fact "Independent". If anything maybe England should now be a Colony of Canada.

Re: Immigrants . . .
LOL I was just joshin with my colonies comment hehehe.... England as a colony of Canada
... what gets me is when I get my full Canadian citizenship I am to swear allegiance to Queen Elizabeth, Queen of Canada... go figure that one! lol

Ok... you find the question posed as 'odd'.... your reason for this is that ...'people are just people'... to me that would say that you are a non judgemental person.... and that's a good thing

I knew that, but I had to yank your chain now that I am more Canadian than British. Oh and I'm gonna watch for when your going to become "a new Canadian" so I can go and snicker at you swearing Allegiance to your Queen. What's her name Camilla something or other.
