Random Acts of Kindness
What was the last nice thing you did for someone you didn't even know?
Not meant to be a "boastful" topic, but rather a thread to show that there really are some nice people out there who are willing to lend a hand without expecting something in return.

i think it was helping an elderly lady that was too short on one end to reach a couple of cans of the top shelf in the grocery store.

Nice to know that you'll reach the cans on the top shelf for me if you happen to be at the same store as me ferri!

Re: Random Acts of Kindness
Most people do little random acts. The last one I recall was last fall when I pulled up to the highway at 13th Street in Peachland. On the highway was a whole bunch of money. I put on my four ways and got out to check things out.
There was a wallet on the road, along with a considerable number of $100s, $50s and $20s, which were just starting to blow away. I stomped on them, grabbed them and kept my eye on the highway traffic and managed to get myself, the money, the wallet and my car off to the side of the highway in one piece.
I just pulled out a driver's license from the wallet (and noted it was someone from out of province), when a car came screaming down the highway towards me. It pulled over and a frantic man got out. I looked at the driver's license, then at him, and smiled.
He walked up and said, "Thank God."
I told him I saw it and scurried to collect the money before it blew away. It turned out his family was in the valley for vacation and they went to a coffee shop. Between wrestling this kids into the car and holding his coffee, he had absent-mindedly placed his wallet on the top of his car.
Anyway, he was a happy camper and my day was made.

I always put extra change in parking meters so the next person doesn't have to pay.
I also sent my son next door to scope out the neighbours yard for a few little 'gifts' my lil pug may have left when he wandered over. Does that count?

Re: Random Acts of Kindness
I found a wallet in the parking lot at ICBC once... I looked at the ID and found his number... couldn't get a hold of him all evening... I find out later I couldn't get a hold of him because he spent all evening retracing his steps after remembering he'd left it on the roof of his car. All his ID and credit cards were in there and 30 bucks... he was so relieved he insisted I take the 30 bucks. I'm sure a lot of people would have taken the cash and chucked the wallet... I got the 30 bucks for doing something I'd feel good about anyway instead of making 30 bucks for causing someone grief. Hopefully if I ever lose my wallet the same will happen
... ya, fat chance.

Re: Random Acts of Kindness
I look at it as a pay it forward issue. I never had a thought of taking the money and seeing the driver's license, I knew it must be someone here on vacation and the amount of money (roughly $600) must have been his vacation money. I just put myself in his shoes and knew what a rotten week it would be for him if he didn't get it back.
And yes, pug poop prowls are random acts of kindness.

Re: Random Acts of Kindness
I gave a bum a penny once... I suggested to him that he melt it down and use it for a filling in his rotted teeth...does that count?
Sometimes I don't have the spare change to be so kind though, like once I was asked for some change for some food, the poor guy looked starving, and I sadly had to respond... Sorry my friend, I only have $12.50, which is just enough to get me that double white chocolate mocha grande' with dark chocolate sprinkles I'm heading for at Star bucks.
Some of them are so rude though... Like that guitar player guy on the sidewalk. I asked him if he had change for a twoney... and he refused to give me eight quarters! Although I have to give him credit, as at least he stopped playing long enough for me to stop a guy from throwing two loonies into his case, so I could get change.

Brownies emphasized "secrecy" for lack of a better word for acts of kindness. Love helping people just for the sake of the smile/surprise in their eyes or just been downright grateful - gives me a warm fuzzy feeling all day.crash 99 wrote: *will have to consider what I "can" type here, so as not to get busted.

Truths can be backed up by facts - do you have any?
