Prairie dogs in Kelowna?

Post by tawnylee »

This might be a dumb question, but I'm a city kid. Are there prairie dogs in Kelowna? I'm not talking about those people that wait too long and are "prairie doggin it" but some creature in my yard, lol.
This thing was about a foot tall when it stood on its hind legs and it was munching on grass. It was a light brown color with no visible ears. Any ideas? Am I right?

You are correct sir...actually I'm not 100% because we have groundhogs here and technically they aren't exactly the same.

There are both Prairie dogs and Groundhogs in and around Kelowna. There are lots of Prairie dogs along Sexsmith Rd. Groundhogs are less common these days but I remember having them living in our wood pile when I was a kid.
