Old $20 bills back in circulation
I don't know about anyone else, but within the last month a lot of old $20 bills have appeared in my change from stores, and even a bank machine. The bills date between 1979 to 1981. The strange thing is that the bills are in near-mint condition. Could they be from an old robbery? Just wondering if anyone else has come across these old bills....

Those old ones are no good anymore, I'll take them off your hands
seriously though, they could be counterfeits, and as the old bills are easier to counterfeit someone might get away with it. I'd ask at the bank.

They say you can't believe everything they say.

I took the old bills to The Royal Bank and they were genuine. Maybe someone saved their $$$ under a mattress for years or something, but it sure was strange seeing the old bills. I even showed my kids and told them "This is what money looked like when I was a teenager". I also told them that back when those bills were in circulation, one of them could have filled up a full sized cars tank with gas!

That would be nice! Ya can't even fill a lawnmower jerry-can for $20 nowadays. I've been reading stories about money laundering at BC casinos. Maybe the old bills are a part of that. But is still strikes me as strange that a large amount of almost 30 year old $20's suddenly pop back into circulation in near mint condition.
