Household Cleaners, etc.
Wondering if anyone can help. Was at my gfriend's yesterday and they have a house built in the early 70's so no bathroom fan. She has a bit of mold on the ceiling from too many hot showers, LOL and is wondering if there is an alternative to having to repaint right away.
Anyone know of anything? (She tried CLR and it didn't work)

Spray-Nine might work...I have heard its really really good, but I have not used it personally.
I tried BAM and it works, but its a killer on the nose. Ample ventilation is required.

Mold is always best treated with bleach, which kills the spores.

And if it is showing on the ceiling, there is a good chance that it could be hiding behind the wall. Very dangerous. I would recommend removing a section to see what's hiding. If there is nothing there it is easy enough to board it back up. A fan would also be a good idea although a fair bit of work if there has never been one before.

Hubby has used Kilz primer, you can paint right over the mold...however he suggested to put a fan in as your just going to keep getting mold growing.
Hope this helps.
