Photo of Bernard Ave 1959

Post by Bsuds »

We were going thru some old pictures today and came across this from 1959. Sheep being herded down Bernard ave.
This was the last time before the bridge opened.

Judging by the photo and where the Willow is sitting and City Hall, isn't that one street over from Bernard? VERY cool photo, though!

You are right, I think they went from there to Bernard maybe and then onto the ferry.
Just going by what my wife said, I wasn't here then.

I had one similar to that when I lived in California, 1957 4 door hard top, yellow and white.

Got a 2-door green and white sitting in the shop right now.

They're beautiful cars, even if they are Fords.

Did the floating bridge not open in '58?

The date on the picture is 59, wife claims it was the last time sheep were herded downtown before bridge opened. I suppose the picture could have been taken in 58 and not developed till 59.

I'm not arguing with her...see signature...

Someone should tell him that no matter how fast or hard he thrusts his hips like that, the sheep are only going to move when they are ready to move.

I said it before, it doesn't matter how many more cattle ramps they add to the dock. If they don't do something about the bottleneck just before the feeding area, those ramps will solve nothing!

ETA And you'll see that I was right all along, all you naysayers!

Back on topic, is there a thread for these postcards? If not, someone should start one. They're always fascinating!
