What made me smile today was:

The four year old in my life told me to let my hair grow really long and she would help me drag it around. LOL....

Cute story brought a smile to my face thinking of the giggles the "gnomenappers" would have had throughout the trip. :sunshine:

Missing gnome finds way home

A roaming gnome has come home to Saskatoon.

Joan Morrison noticed one of her four lawn gnomes missing from her backyard about two weeks ago. She thought she'd never see the foot-tall ceramic statuette again, one of a collection of ornaments she'd had for at least a decade and dubbed her "Irish leprechauns."

"I thought that was the end of the line for him," said Morrison.

Last Saturday at about 5:30 a.m., she went out to get her newspaper and found the gnome on her doorstep, along with photographs from destinations in New Brunswick and Maine and a collectors plate from Shediac, N.B.

The photographs indicate someone took the gnome on vacation throughout Eastern Canada and the northeastern United States. He's pictured in the dining room of past-U.S. president Teddy Roosevelt's summer home, posing beside waterfalls and cozied up to a giant lobster.

"Whoever's done this has quite the sense of humour," said Morrison. Almost every picture comes with a handwritten caption on the back. In one, the gnome is posing with statues of pirates. "Captured by pirates at a trap set for tourists," reads the caption.

The Morrisons don't know anyone who recently travelled to New Brunswick and say their only clue is a pair of photographs from the 2010 IAAF world junior track and field championships in Moncton, depicting the gnome watching a group of baton twirlers at the opening ceremonies.

The international event was held between July 19 and 25.

The Morrisons' quiet backyard is the scene of the heist. Of the four gnomes, Morrison said she thought the travelling statue would be the least likely target as he is missing a finger and has a hole in his head.

Morrison's husband Allen believes it was an inside job, as a tall fence protects their yard, which is full of ornaments and planters.

He believes someone who knew them spotted the gnome and decided to take it on vacation.

Joan said she doesn't want to find out who did it.

"It's more fun not knowing," she said. "He's had quite a journey. We just don't know with whom."

Since the story was reported Tuesday, the couple has had plenty of attention, but no one has come forward with any answers. Joan said she wishes the gnome had a greater role in all the media hullabaloo. He remains silent.

"It's been interesting to say the least," said Morrison.

The Morrisons say they enjoy travelling and visited New Brunswick themselves earlier this year. They were able to recognize some of their gnome's destinations.

Joan said she just wants to thank the gnome-nappers for returning him in one piece
