Dead Bird Autopsies?

I've found two unmutilated dead birds in my yard over the last few days. I was told I should save them and call somewhere to have them screened for West Nile.. Does anyone have any information about this?

I'd call Interior Health.

What kind of birds were they?

One robin and the other one I'm not sure. Just a black bird? Looks identical to the robin in size, beak etc but its feathers are black - pretty dark blue colour in the sunlight.

I found one in the spring, a small black bird with speckles on its back. As far as I remember it was not injured in any way.

Might have been death by Kitty . Sometimes they will just catch them , play ( kill ) and leave .

A dead starling is a good starling.

And probably killed by a cat or simply another "pest" bird, which a starling is.

Yep, likely a 'Glossy Starling'. Thanks GG, I'm far from being an ornithologist.
