someone who repaired shoes incredibly cheap and did great work will be unfortunate if they closed the doors but he was probably ready for retirement

Which one? The one by TD bank downtown or the one on westside by the school?

I suggested to anyone I knew that needed something done to go there. They repaired the zippers in my Granddaughter's boots during a visit with me & both the price & the work were great.

I felt it was a real 'Mom & Pop' operation that knew how to repair stuff.

I hope they are relocating & not shutting down ?

Large sign on the shop says they're open but repairs are waiting for the insurance claim to be processed by ICBC.

Wait a second! Is this the same couple who had the spot in Orchard Park across from Ingledew’s a number of years ago?

No, don't believe it's the same people. I believe that guy was from WEstbank, had a shop where Buckerfields is now in Westbank. His name was Martin.
This is Joy at Chuck and quicky cobbler, been there forever.

I hope everything is ok. That is a great little shop. I know the wife was quite sick a few years ago. The husband is a crusty old bugger but I like him. They are hard working people.

AND, I came here thinking this was a cooking/recipe forum. What a disappointment.

Re: Quickie Cobbler- Chuck Jean and Joy

Post by watchkat »

Sorry to hear that they are perhaps closed. Chuck Jean is the owner with Joy. He has been in Westbank since the 1980's and I have never known him to be gruff.......he has opinions, but never had a problem with him or any of his work. He could do or would try to do anything to repair/rebuild your shoes or luggage. He seemed to like the challenge and was always fairly priced.
Last contact was last year and at that time he had internal problems which they couldn't seem to diagnose enough to relieve pain and he was having difficulty working daily. Joy was worried and rightfully so for his health.

I can only wish him better health and hopefully they have found the problem and he will recover.
Best Wishes
Gloria
