Not sure what significance this song may have with some out there, but it is what it is.

Huh? What is it?
I'm hoping you are not trying to equate the Stones' song about death of a loved one with racism.

Here are 3 possibilities (in no order):
1) bad acid trip
2) Vietnam War
3) deep depression
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

No, I never equated it to racism, but when it first came out it did meet with some controversy.
A great song with meaningful words, death of a spouse?
The instrumentals, in particular the sitar and drums are unequaled.

If you listen to the lyrics you can see it has nothing to do with race.
I've always figured it was depression he was singing about.

I was never smart enough to pay attention to the lyrics or what the "meaning" of the songs were.
I just liked the music.

I always listen to the words of songs. That's why I don't like some artists. lol If they don't make sense I won't bother.

I always listen to the lyrics but can never remember them. I’ve always detested the lyrics that would start veering to medieval themes, which is strangely common with some older rock bands. Skinny weird young white dudes who were great musicians but obviously were immersed in an odd fantasy life because they were loners.....years later, the same ones would have been playing dungeons and dragons. I’m super happy some of them found their outlet in music but those songs......Blech.
And no, this has nothing to do with the Stones or the topic song. Just an aside.
