Are you frustrated by polls ?

Post by my5cents »

Many organizations use polls as a means of testing their success and failures and ideally to improve their performance.

I'm sure many organizations pay good money to have such polls created and analyzed.

I'm continually frustrated when polls don't reflect my true experience.

Sorta like the old example. "Yes or No, do you still beat your wife ?" Obviously if you've never beaten your wife, neither yes or no answers the question.

The organization that always seems to be conducting a survey for one reason or another is ICBC. I don't know who they pay to create and conduct their surveys, but ICBC is wasting their money.

Example - (a couple of years ago)... "Why you recently renewed your BC driver's license was the length of time you had to wait for service. Reasonable, Slightly too long, Far too long.
At the time I had an enhanced BC DL (the kind you could cross the boarder by car), to apply for one you completed a questionnaire, when approved you were given an appointment for a certain time for the follow-up interview. There is no waiting at all.

Doesn't ICBC know their own products ????

Example - (ICBC after a claim) "Were you happy with the promises your adjuster made ?" Yes / No (ya I thought it was strange to ask about "promises" but they did)
I was very "happy" with the promises. BUT the adjuster never made good on them.

Todays poll in Castanet "Do you travel on the Coquihalla in the winter months ?" Always / Never / Only when conditions are good

What about - Yes but only when unavoidable . Isn't that pretty common, you have a certain appointment or meeting and the trip can't be avoided. You don't travel always, It isn't that you never travel the Coq in winter, It isn't that you only travel when conditions are good, some must travel it but limit the travel to necessity.

After thought,,,, perhaps I should create a poll asking if people are frustrated with polls

Am I frustrated with polls?
Not at all. In fact I view them as entertainment.
I don't think I have ever answered a poll accurately. I love to mess with them, skew the numbers. But if I'm the only one playing games, well, I'll just have to get more on board.

I feel no obligation to any company, any government or any movement to give them my honest opinion. But if any polling company wants to pay me.....

Political polls, there is only 1 I pay attention to and that is Ballot box

Castanet polls imo are useless since just clearing history enables a person to vote multiple times.

For the most part those irritating phone polls... Telus answering service gets those.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.
