Re: I got my Dream Job
Oh Queen, I forgot to mention,
She asked me to the first Beach Fire of the season the other day.
We had a very good time together

She is a nice lady, and may be part of the reason I haven't rushed back home yet.

If Putin stopped, he'd be saving Russian lives as well. Never thought the right would have a field day but June 24/2022 it is.

Oh Seewood,
I hope you made it home safely.
I personally say 5 foot waves in that storm, but a friend told me he saw some 8 foot waves.
I am sure glad I was on shore.
It's relatively calm out now, so I am thinking about heading out on the kayak soon.

Sorry for the video quality, I never thought of cleaning the lens as the concert started.
However I had a front row seat to a Truely Canadian Quartet today.

Re: I got my Dream Job
I looked at a brand new 33 foot sailboat on Quadra Island today, and was so tempted to buy it.
So new that it hasn't even touched water. For that matter it isn't even finished yet.
However, the hull was made around 40 years ago, a retired ship builder bought it from the factory roughed in the cabin and hasn't touched it in 35 years.
I figure I could have it finished in about 6 very intensive weeks with about a $15,000 to $20,000 investment.
I would have bought it today except for 1 tiny issue.
It's in a building and must be moved before the end of the month.
The building will be demolished soon, and I can't just rent it out for a couple months.
Even if I could, one boat mover has told them his truck can't make the corner so it would take a large crane to move it.
It's truly a shame to let this one go, but I a don't see much of choice without some very deep and pockets.
Oh, I am probably returning home in 3 weeks or so.
Relaxing for a couple weeks then heading up North again for my winter work.
This winter I would like to spend a little more time up there to earn a little extra money.
For some reason, everyone tells me I go the wrong direction![:haha: [icon_lol2.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_lol2.gif)

We used to hear loons a lot when we lived in NW Ontario. Not as much here in the Okanagan. I love the sound they make. You’re going to miss all the islands have to offer once you return north. It’s already snowy up there.

Lots of Loons in the upper lakes. Have to fight them for the fish on your line as they will steal them if you're not careful.
I might look normal but believe me, I talk to animals and wait for them to reply.

Re: I got my Dream Job
I pretty much have up looking at boats until the spring, however I wanted to show a retired custom yatch builder friend one I had looked at.
So I went on CRAIGSLIST and while looking for the ad I found the the world's UGLIEST boat.
Please note, everyone else is saying it's just Filthy, not ugly.
It has a couple things going for it like a strong reputation for quality.
The asking price was $1,500 which I can actually afford.
Here is a link to the ad, please note the asking price now.
https://comoxvalley.craigslist.org/boa/ ... 83808.html
Anyway I am on my way to Campbell River to look at it now.
If I do buy it I will edit the link into a screenshot
I may have to ask about In House Finance if I decide to buy it
If I make the purchase, I am probably going to post the transformation on YouTube but also share a few pics on here.
Oh I plan on keeping the name the World's Ugliest Boat for now.

The dry dock stand better come with it.
If one had to contract one built it would not be cheap.
Prices are lower for seasonal things off season. In spring,
prices will go back up.
Take care.

Looks like quite a project but you are up to the challenge. Good luck!

I was hungry. People are so mean to me sometimes
Some may view my politically incorrect opinions as harsh and may be offended by them. Some think political correctness will be our undoing.

Re: I got my Dream Job
A good pressure wash will tidy most of that filth off. Simple fix there. I don't see an auxiliary motor so that might set you back another few bucks.
Regardless, if the interior is not a rat infested, smelly etc, then a great project. Do have an expert have a look at the hull and any through hull fittings. Bummer when it is lowered into the water and water starts to show up the wrong side of the hull.
Could be a great project and doable.

Just an edit to add; remember that adage that a boat is a hole in the water you pour money into.

Re: I got my Dream Job
The boat didn't happen.
I did everything he had asked and suddenly he isn't answering the phone or returning my calls.
Until his wife got home and picked up the phone, handing it to him.
I responded I just spent $100 on this trip and wasted a day because of you.
Do you really think I would ever come back
Now I know why he was advertising it on Craigslist rather than Kijiji.
Kijiji has reviews, and and his history is probably a 1 star review.

Oh I have already sold it, but if they don't pick it up I will call you
