Nope don't think so. Your question implying a misguided interpretation that's not entirely supported by mainstream science. Quantum mechanics displays signs of duality and non deterministic paradigms which some falsely attribute to 'quantum mysticism', or 'quantum consciousness'.steven lloyd wrote: ↑Jan 30th, 2024, 4:48 am![]()
Quantum physics says there exists a universal energy that has the attributes of God...Is this "God"?
Give this podcast a listen for a current run down of our interpretation of quantum field theory. Lex ask's some dumb questions that are enjoyable.

Re: What is God ?
The search to put specifics to a "unifying field theory" has been going on in quantum physics circles for decades, but the search does go on. Religion dismisses any need to search for deeper meaning by invoking "faith".
I suspect that somewhere down the road it will be scientists that find "God", and it's likely that "He" will bear little resemblance to what is in circulation today.
I think it's important to be okay with not knowing one way or the other, and be open to possibilities. Embrace the mystery.

This puts my feelings on the matter into words quite nicely.fluffy wrote: ↑May 23rd, 2024, 6:28 am I suspect that somewhere down the road it will be scientists that find "God", and it's likely that "He" will bear little resemblance to what is in circulation today.

Though, we'd have to be willing to change our concept of god quite drastically to allow for science to find something that could be called "god".

Re: What is God ?
Concepts of "God" are many and varied already, a lot are not so specific as to just what constitutes "God". Some are deliberately vague, using names like "a higher power", which leaves a lot of leeway for personal interpretation and doesn't assign any level of consciousness.youjustcomplain wrote: ↑May 23rd, 2024, 9:40 am Though, we'd have to be willing to change our concept of god quite drastically to allow for science to find something that could be called "god".

Absolutely. I'd wager that there are as many ideas of what god is, as there are people with idea's.fluffy wrote: ↑May 23rd, 2024, 3:41 pm Concepts of "God" are many and varied already, a lot are not so specific as to just what constitutes "God". If science may, someday, find god, I think it would be completely unsatisfying to the faithful.
The ones I've talked to seem to feel that they'd be lost without their god. They pray to their god, have deep conversations with their god, are guided to make moral decisions by their god.
I doubt science will ever be able to find a god that would satisfy these needs.

Exactly. Lately I have been investigating Taoism. What I do like is that, like Buddhism, it is not a religion and it's ideas are consistent with the science in quantum physics. Tao translates literally as "the path" (referencing a spiritual way of thinking and living that is in harmony with nature and the universe) and is also used as a descriptor or label for an infinite universal force and/or presence that includes everything.fluffy wrote: ↑May 23rd, 2024, 3:41 pmConcepts of "God" are many and varied already, a lot are not so specific as to just what constitutes "God". The Book of The Way, Day by Day

There was something formless and perfect
before the universe was born.
It is serene. Empty.
Solitary. Unchanging.
Infinite. Eternally present.
It is the mother of the universe.
For lack of a better name,
I call it the Tao.
It flows through all things,
inside and outside, and returns
to the origin of all things.
The Tao is great.
The universe is great.
Earth is great.
Man is great.
These are the four great powers.
Man follows the earth.
Earth follows the universe.
The universe follows the Tao.
The Tao follows only itself.

As our leaders grin about keeping war going "for as long as it takes" to suck our money out
and we all watch TV and see how many dead people we got for our tax $billions
and none of us really cares - we could kill a hundred million and not care
this is what God intended

Why is it that most major sports pray to god for a safe day? Why us this so accepted? Even IF there was a god, why would such a deity be concerned about the weather at the game? Boy, peeps be gullible. Specially in today's world where all the magic has been splained by science....

Careful making claims you have no evidence for. Probably best leaving that to the people of faith.Bigbacardi wrote: ↑Sep 20th, 2024, 7:30 pm Why is it that most major sports pray to god for a safe day? Why us this so accepted? Science doesn't explain everything. Nobody knows how life began. The explanation offered by believers isn't even slightly convincing, but science hasn't explained that yet.

Never did grasp the concept of prayer.... 'crept for maybe a few times in college, when I prayed over the porcelain pulpit after cheap nite at the bar.....

General question to anyone participating in this thread. How was/is your relationship to your parents?
