Doomsday, Dec 21 2012?

Is there a god? What is the meaning of life?

Maybe you should do some research before you paste a link to a newage website. All of these things have been debunked. There is no going to be any mystical planetary or galactic 'alignments', indigo children don't exist(it is nice to think you or your children are special though), sunspots don't cause earthquakes(nor do planetary alignments), and planet Niburu won't be making an appearance (ever!).

Whether the myths have been debunked or not, there is a wide range of "what's going to happen" on Dec. 21, 2012 and people will get into the doomsday state of mind the closer we get to the date. All the Mayans said eons ago was their calendar would end on that date. Will civilization end that day? Not bloody likely but to each their own.
Dance as if no one's watching, sing as if no one's listening, and live everyday as if it were your last.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.

I fully expect to see a rise in Heaven's Gate style ascensions. There's some kooky newage cults out there, and they are really looking forward to this non-event.

In 1983 there was a once in a millennium planetary alignment... 29 years off isn't too bad for a prediction that long ago, there have been other lesser alignments since.
sunspots don't cause earthquakes

http://www.thunderbolts.info/tpod/2005/ ... hquake.htm
Some scientists have become aware of a correlation between sunspots and Earthquakes and want to use the sunspot data to help predict earthquakes. The theory is that an intensification of the magnetic field can cause changes in the geo-sphere. The NASA and the European Geosciences Union have already put their stamp of approval on the sunspot hypothesis, which suggests that changes in the sun-earth environment affects the magnetic field of the earth that can trigger earthquakes in areas prone to it. It is not clear how such a trigger might work.

Maybe you should do some research yourself. I wouldn't shrug off Niburu too fast either. The ancient Babylonians and Sumerians observed it, and they were well ahead of their time in astronomy.

29 years off is accurate? And were they mystical consciousness shifting planetary alignments? I think not.

We've been thorough this electric universe bs before, remember. The EU pseudoscience goes against all known physics. It is bunk. Not to mention that is has been used by createotards to say the earth is 10000 years old. Good stuff! Really reliable.

The Sumerians and Bablyonians never 'witnessed' Niburu as a planet. In the sumerian creation myth, the Earth is created by violent conflict between the gods Tiamat and Niburu. It was Zechiaria Sitchin who introduced the idea that they are planets, not the Sumerians. An old Zechariah's theories have been shown to be completely false, and based on mistranslations of Sumerian writings.

Have any more kooky newage pseudo-science for me?

Well soulra, if NASA and the European geosciences union put their stamp of approval on the sunspot hypothesis, but you say it's bunk, it must be bunk! As far as old myths, wasn't the sun thought of as a chariot of fire? Does that mean the sun didn't exist back then because they didn't know it was a sun?

Really? Please share some links, I can't seem to find anything beyond real geologists, astronomers, and astrophysicists laughing at the idea. No thunderbolts links please.

Nope... going for a hike instead... as earthquakes are one of the signs of the apocalypse, we'll just have to see if they happen. There are some big ones that are supposed to happen soon including just off of Vancouver, predicted by SCIENTISTS. If they're wrong... excellent, if they're right and we start getting major ones, you'll just say it's coincidence and eathquakes have happened throughout history, so really what's the point arguing with you about whether they'll happen or not? If we got all the signs... the droughts, earthquakes, locusts, extreme weather, etc. wouldn't you have an excuse for every last one anyway?

Yes, they are called natural disasters for a reason....they're natural. Meaning they occur naturally. These things have always happened, and they will continue to happen, naturally. Welcome to planet earth.

Soulra, I have a feeling the only reason you wouldn't believe the apocalypse wouldn't happen is because it's mentioned in the bible. If it said in the bible the apocalypse would never happen you'd probably insist it would... it's your blind hate for religion that just overrules everything else.

Instead of hucking insults, maybe you should track down some facts.
