Are you sure?
Seems to me there are a few starving people.
Maybe they've got a different god?

Ok to me this parable gets across the message that in 'life' we should be helping eachother to survive... Its not literally people sat in a room starving
You talk about how the Lord should feed them ... now if this was all in a literal sense then Im sure he would feed them but as it's meant to show how we should treat eachother in life, he cant... I could not treat someone good or nice from you on your behalf.... Well I suppose in some situations I could but It wouldn't mean as much as you yourself doing it
Sorry Sax,
I just find it paradoxical that a moralistic yarn whose sole purpose is to make us think about right and wrong totally ignores the most glaring and apparent moral oversight.

And, on that note, I will bid you God's blessing.

If its to get across the message 'do good to eachother'...the good must be done by you not anyone else..if the Lord were to feed them the message would be..'its ok to not wanna help anyone...someone will eventually do it for you'

For me, Jesus is the first born of God the Father's spirit children. He is the only begotten of The Father here on earth. He was sent as a sinless sacrifice to fulfill the demands of justice which would allow us to return to live with the Father, if we repent.

This is where the parable comes into effect. Those starving around the table can at any time repent and feed each other. They have chosen not to do so... they will remain in that state until they chose to take advantage of the atonement of Jesus Christ, repent and forsake their sins. It is a parable...not to be taken literally... but that is the lesson that I get from it.

Our time here on earth is simply a small probationary time given to us to see if we choose to follow God or not. For HIm to intervene and force us to follow Him defeats the very purpose of the plan. How do we react when hardship is part of our lives? Can we keep our eye on the eternal perception, or do we wallow in self pity and expect others to take care of us. Do we give as the widow did... her last mite, or do we hoard and have the attitude.."I earned it... let that lazy SOG earn his own".... Simply a probationary period... How are we doing?

"..For Him to intervene and force us to follow Him defeats the very purpose of the plan..."

but isn't anybody doing "god's work"....

intervening on his behalf?

I am included in "we" eyepop. I also started the post by saying it was my belief, not yours. Thus eliminating the need for you to waste your time editing my post. :127:

So a priest, a rabbi and a minister walk into a bar...

Sorry, thought this thread needed some levity.

Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master.
Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher.
Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer.
He had no army, yet kings feared Him..
He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world.
He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him.
He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.
