For those who aren't familiar with VCC:

Just a reply to the 2 previous posts:
To Strawberry-I don't think the two organizations you posted links too are connected. I do think the one link to the church in Edmonton relates to the first post. The other link to the group in the Phillipines appears to be completely unrelated.
Secondly to the originaly poster: What exactly concerns you about VCC? Their statement of faith is pretty standard for Christian churches. What classifies them as a "cult" for you?

I may be mistaken but the Phillipines is where the Victory Christian originated? Or maybe it was here first? Doesn't say on the VCC.org site...
As for why the OP is calling it a cult (from the Phillipine link):
Maranatha Campus Ministries was then dissolved in 1989 following controversy over the group's methods, including allegations of cultlike tactics. This dissolution was supported by Rice Broocks, Steve Murrell, and Phil Bonasso who were former campus ministers of Maranatha. After this, Victory Christian Fellowship became an independent ministry.

I have no experience with the group, but normally it is expected to give evidence/information when leveling accusations.
I still don't think there is any link between the two groups besides them both being Christian organizations.

I confirmed that VCC in Edmonton is in no way connected with VCF. VCF of the Phillipines is connected with this organization: http://www.everynation.org
A simple check of their churches in Canada will show that they do not have a church in Edmonton. Thus Strawberry's post is misleading.

If you know nothing about the group why are you so defensive?

Not defensive here. I'm actually just looking for information like yourself. I failed to find a connection between the links and was merely pointing that out for clarification purposes. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, no, it is not misleading if you believe that ALL religions are cults.

Well yes, what makes a cult and a religion different? Churches are no different than a cult; they take your money, have a hierarchy and dictate to you your beliefs.. The only thing that separates them in societies eyes is that organized religion has been around for so long that it must be legitimate. A new fangled religion that believes we all have little aliens inside us (LOL, sure why not?) is deemed a cult because it veers significantly from the currently accepted beliefs.

I don't think you understood my point. The misleading part is that the two organizations Strawberry linked to are unrelated. The only thing they share is "Victory Christian" in their name. You can't blame Burger King for something McDonalds did just because they both sell burgers.
Victory Christian Center is a church in Edmonton.
Victory Christian Fellowship is a church in the Philippines.
They have absolutely no connection organizationally.

Sooooooooo .... did you or did you not ask what classifies them as a cult?

seeking witness: Why don't you answer this question?
Also, all Religions are cults, so long as you also admit that all cults are religions
