Perhaps ... but they should have been so centuries ago. Brainwashing has hurt and killed a lot of kids.

I agree 100% that religions have caused and allowed great horrors upon mankind. You do know that there have also been these things recently by athiests governments too. No religion will not equal peace either.

I do think that if all who profess to be Christian actually listened to what Jesus said there would be peace. I don't think the huge amount of religious hypocrites would ever actually do that though. I understand completely why many people dislike religion. I do try to let these ones know , Jesus taught or did none of these terrible things we see in his name.

You'd be wrong. It is because of what the religions do (under the guise of religion) to kids that pisses me off the most. Add the adults who would sooner serve tea and scones at a Sunday afternoon prayer meeting to these child molesters rather than bring it out into the open. They should believe what the kids are trying to tell them, deal with it by reporting it, publicly denounce what their religions are doing, demand changes from the elite of their religions and purge the btards from their midst and their families and their churches.

The adults who know about it and the parents who ignore it and shove it under the rug, allowing it to continue totally unchecked or questioned, are the scum of the earth. They are as guilty as the religious leaders who abuse and murder these kids. They know and yet they do nothing to stop it. They don't speak out, they don't report them, they don't care about these atrocities - even to protect their own children!

The only reason this is in the public eye is because the survivors have finally spoken up.

If it was anyone other than their religious leaders, they be calling for criminal charges against these child abusers/murderers. If it was their neighbour, their dentist, their elected representative ... anyone else, they would demand justice for the kids. Such acts would not be tolerated. But because it is a representative of their religion, they turn their eyes and their ears, their hearts and their consciences away.

What's your point? Those people were not in a position of trust to protect the children in their care. They didn't do it under the guise of religion.

My point is normally sane, upstanding, law-abiding, intelligent people know about these things happening. They know what the churches do with these people even after they have been reported and charged - and they still keep silent and allow the churches to continue with their abuses and murders of children and to move the abusers to other jurisdictions where they can carry on.

As trusted leaders in their various religions, they ARE doing these things in his name. Because they act FOR their churches they are directly acting in the name of (insert whatever god you like here). My gripe is that the people who are religious followers are allowing it to continue and they do nothing to stop it.

For example, how many Catholics are there on the face of the earth? How many just in Kelowna? If they organized a rally against their churches and their religion's leaders on these issues, and walked out and refused to come back until the church cleaned up their act, charged their members with abuse and murder, excommunicated them, etc etc and finally cleaned their highest house, do you not think the Pope would not sit up and take notice? Do you not think he might go into panic mode and actually do something instead of cloaking the abusers in secrecy and layers of protection?

Left on his own, he would do nothing. But if the power of the people was pushing for change, he would be forced to do something about it.

Where are these people? Pew three, seat 12? Heads bowed so they can ignore the whole issue? Eyes in their bibles so they can't see what's happening? They know full well and they ignore it. If they don't speak out, there is no such thing as a good Christian. They will run off to save the starving kids in Africa (and gain more converts, which is their real purpose) before they will protect their own kids here - or anywhere. They will solicit money from the public for their "charities" and "good works", but they can't be bothered to raise the funds to launch their own campaigns against these criminals in their midst.
