Congratulations grasshopper you do have some faith after all!
You prove the point of divine existence by using scientific theorizing on the theological aspects of the great cosmic powers that we contemplate and that remain beyond our comprehension.
Why waste all that time with all those "theories" when the one and only proven fact necessary is all around you with every breath you take or thought you have??
Science likes to take the long way home; slogging around behind blind faith in these debates only to eventually end up on the same page anyways...
Example: If you accept the Big Bang theory you'll still be left with questions about what exactly went BANG in the first place and will those geeks ever get laid?

How did protoplasmic goo evolve to the point that it/we are now sending spacecraft to the heavens and creating earth modifying/destroying devices and questioning the very reason for our existence??
What force created that goo in the first place and the patch of rock on which it could attach itself??
The fact that we "humans" are here is good enough for me cuz none of us had a choice about the circumstances of our birth nor the death that all will face.
Blind faith is all I need...
Where do you read into that to be atheist you need to "believe" in the evolution of protoplasmic goo? why do i need to believe in a creator? I am quite satisfied simply NOT KNOWING. You say the fact we humans are here is good enough for you.....than why the faith? Obviously its not good enough for you if you still require blind faith on top of it.
Enjoy your blind faith - i have no place for faith in my life (and i can still be a good upstanding citizen capable of love, forgiveness, knowing right from wrong, making mistakes, and living a fulfilled life) I don't need to make up or put faith in stories to satisfy an ego that requires an explanation for everything.
Even if you choose to believe in a creator ie GOD - why all the other mumbo jumbo with it? If this god is so advanced and loving and wise and powerful, why all the insecurity? why are we all expected to pledge our devotion? why does it require idolization? Why is it vengeful? Why does blind faith need to blindly embrace all of these notions as well? Why does this god need to create something just to test it and why are some of these tests meant to contradict what science has taught us of nature? why does this god pick "favorites" among sex's, race's, sexualities etc., etc.?
I expect the evidence of the creator to come before the explanations of the creators motivations - being an atheist, i am a stickler like that.
in my opinion there is more "proof" and plausible explanation in the existence of time travel than in the existence of a creator - i don't believe in time travel either

Re: My View On Life
^^ Let's start with the one that started it all, the big bang theory. Before the big bang there was supposedly nothing, not even time existed. Then the universe with it's trillions of stars and planets expanded from a relatively tiny point... all the elements that made up the universe appeared from nowhere or existed forever with no beginning, and even though time wasn't even in motion, at one point it must have started up on it's own. Unreal how people will believe that without a second thought.

They say you can't believe everything they say.

Problem is, a lot of people who are actually agnostic, call themselves atheists...and vice versa.
Hm, I've read many accounts of atheists having "spriritual" experiences and becoming theists. Perhaps you could explain how this is impossible.
Well, I can go some way to explaining it for you: check the veracity of your 'reading material sources'! Zzontar, it is not uncommon practise for people to lie and fabricate in order to protect their delusions as real or at least socially acceptable. It is a prime side effect of cognitive dissonance, don't you know?
Perhaps because YOU believe it's not possible, you think anyone else that says it is must be a liar? Here's another example (but of course his pants must be on fire, too)
http://www.theroadtoemmaus.org/RdLb/21P ... Theist.htm
There are many cases of agnostics(fence-sitters) who choose to give up their faculties to Faith for various reasons(marriage, business, social, financial etc, etc..), but you should understand that these folk were never atheist to begin with. Is that so hard to understand?
Joining a faith and having faith are two separate things. I highly doubt anyone would suddenly believe in God for any of those reasons.

Believing in scientific theories proves divine existance?????
There is no one and only proven fact when it comes to the THEORY of Creation...believe what you wish...but there is no proof.
Every thought I have comes from within...not from some divine source....as does every breath I take ( which is all medically and scientifically proven, but I won't bother to explain that one... )
The only fact to any theory is that no one knows how or why it all began...and that's just one of the great mysteries of the universe that we have yet to discover...and probably never will.
New stars are 'born' every day....that doesn't mean that some divine power decided we need more stars in the sky. Things change, things evolve, stars fade out, new ones emerge, particles collide, species die out, new species evolve.
NATURE in it's glory...not god.
I can honestly say that I have never imagined that some deity created any of it.
And I am quite satisfied in knowing that we may never know exactly what happened billions of years ago....because in the grand scheme of things....it really doesn't matter.

There is no mumbo jumbo involved with faith. You either have faith or you don't and it isn't always easy to come by.
It's entirely your choice to accept it or dismiss the possibilities.
God's motivations are his own just as your motivations are your own. How else to create a mass population and guide it so that as many people as possible can ejoy healthy abundant lives.
Science is a human construct and force for change that has created all the diversions we now have to choose from other than the path to self awareness, knowledge, peace, love and happiness that GOD has laid before us.
Weak minded humans always choose the easy way out. Pleasure, lust greed, gluttony, sloth etc.
Noble humans pay the cost of leadership by doing the hard things for those who can't or are unwilling to do.
GOD simply has had more infinite time, to develop the rules for this universe and has passed along all the simplest of those rules that work so that we don't have to wallow around in trial and error confusion and simply enjoy the act of living.
Mumbo Jumbo; like insecurity, vengeance, idolization, sexuality, atheism etc. are fear constructs of man and the result of thousands of years of religiofascists who claim to have a lock on the word of G.O.D.
I too, am quite satisfied NOT KNOWING everything of great irrelevance. I have what I need to know and the rest is up to the rest of you folks to decide.
If you really don't want to know anything about Mumbo Jumbo; like insecurity, vengeance, idolization, sexuality, atheism etc. than try turning off your internet and TV etc. for even just one day. These sources of information are where we now predominantly get distracted and confused and atheistic.
Who would believe in GOD when kids growing up today are exposed to theft, murders, gang rapes, endless wars and fighting "as seen on TV" on a daily basis.
Lord Lucifer, Satan and the devil would seem like the ultimate fun party guys compared to a GOD knowing and loving person.
Religions are no different than the corporations of today which suck your wallets dry as they fill you with the hope and desire that we will all, through mindless perserverance, be millionaires if only you buy into their program.
Religion has nothing to do with my view on this subject of faith. Faith is much too personal to let some shmo pseudo-priest tell me how I need to view GOD's message of love. When you have faith you know the truth is there for when it matters most.
The "evidence" is, I maintain, all around you. The Bible is but one of the guidebooks available to us for this life tour.
I read some of it nearly every day but I haven't set foot in a church in over 40 years( weddings notwithstanding) and there are many messages and truths to be had and it doesn't cost you anything.
You have just as much, or even better, chance of discovering the beauty of living in faith by having an epiphany while walking in nature or "seeing the light" after being sentenced to prison for murder or as you lay on the ground torn up & battered and near death from an accident or violent incident than by being a hypocrite who goes to church every sunday.
Some people, however, feel they need to use science to cut down and parse through the entire forest in order to get a better view of the trees of faith that someone told them would be there before they discover the error of their way(s) and that by having faith they could've saved a lot of wasted effort.
That again, would be your choice.
PS. GOD doesn't need to test the contradictions of "what science has taught us of nature". GOD is nature as created by GOD. Why then, would GOD in his infinite wisdom, need to test himself about something that is already existing in perfect harmony with itself, by using an atheistic human construct (science) of mankind ?
You atheists...

If there is no proof of creation than how is it that you are here typing away on a computer keyboard??
What is science trying to prove by constantly creating theories?
Why all the effort and cost of the Hadron Collider to prove the Theory of Everything by searching for GOD particles?
How did you get here? Just as the stars are created so were you.
YOU are here!
Your parents created YOU!!
It's really simple as that...

Re: My View On Life
Oh, you darned christians.
You have every right in this world to believe that the astounding wonders of nature were created by your god...every right...and if that's what you choose to believe...then all the power to you.
BUT...big BUT.......it is the judgement that your view on creation, on god, on the world is the ONLY valid view that most non christians have a problem with.
Your suggestion that those who do not believe as you do are the cause of corruption, pornography, crime, violence, greed.
That only those who believe in your god are capable of living a peaceful, loving, harmonious life.
( BTW - suggesting that human sexuality is immoral...well...that's cause for a whole different debate )
I am amazed by the seemingly narrow view that this christian god created not only the earth, but the entire universe...and yet....only about 33% of this earth's population are christian.
In your world...did this god not also then create the other 66% of us????
The Buddhists, Taoists, Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims, Confusians, Wikkans, Spritualists, Agnostics and Atheists????
Seems kind of silly of him to create a majority that don't believe he exists.
{And yes....my parents created me...which does nothing to prove that god had anything to do with any of it. My dad's an atheist...still managed to create a life though...a few actually. Procreation and divine creation are not the same thing}

As early as 3150 BC there is proof that the Egyptians were excavating dinosaur fossils and I would classify that as 'science' .
There are at least eight possible definitions of science I could dig up on short notice, but digging up fossils is not one of them. What did they do with them? Did they have any theories as to what they consisted of (outside of divine explanation)? The Egyptians never took the fundamental step out of mythical explanations of natural phenomena that characterized the Greek scientific revolution, though they did develop areas of knowledge in mathematics, medicine, astronomy and engineering.

blind faith is kinda like rose colored glasses - you see what you want
guiding this "mass population" so that as many people as possible can enjoy happy abundant lives???? You need to get out of your upper middle class suburb and start looking outside your neighbourhood. The world breeds misery, a lot of it man made - a lot of it NATURAL. Healthy abundant lives are a 1st world luxury.
i have read the bible from cover to cover - new and old testaments. how you can say that there is no mumbo jumbo involved is a clear indicator as to who i am trying to have a rational conversation with.
Carry on......

SH: Ironically, it's advancements in science, like the study of DNA, that have caused scientists to question the theory that life was created by random forces. In fact, Dr. Antony Flew, a famous atheist and professor, recently reversed his long-held belief in evolution based on increased understanding of DNA as an information-carrying molecule. He now argues that an intelligent source had to be involved in the production of DNA. [See "DNA evidence prompts famous professor to renounce atheism"]

No, I'm now saying that you are lying. You have had ample opportunity to check your sources yet you persist in your dishonest Christian-apologetics knavery. I have prompted you on at least 2 occasions to check your sources, but you wilfully chose to insert Truth instead of truth. Be gone!
