Is there a god? What is the meaning of life?

Word of God is a two edged sword...could this be the Sword or weapon Jesus spoke of...knowing that Christians would be persecuted?

2 Corinthians 10:4,5

."For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought
into captivity to the obedience of Christ".

I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests. I am an old cantankerousness grump that happens to be very opinionated.

if you studied the Bible you would also find this...some do make it difficult though!!!

Romans
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.[c] Do not be conceited.

17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.
18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[d] says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Sometimes evil (eg. Hitler) needs to be overcome by a good ass-whupping.

Evil supported by Lutherans, Catholics and most every other so called Christian. No support from these = no war. Who fought these ones? Oh yeah. Lutherans, Catholics and most every other so called Christian. Me personally, I think that if everyone or at least most who claim to follow Jesus actually did. God would have intervened against hitler. Although hitler wouldn't have had an army if that happened. I also don't expect these hypocrite, not Christians to ever change. Jesus said most would not really follow him in fact a few is what he said. That's in the sermon on the mount. I know the exact scripture but you should look for it yourself if you care to.

My point is really there would have been no war to begin with. Germany wasn't Muslim or Hindu but Christian. It was brother killing brother and the question from my OP was to Christians. Hitler is exactly the bad fruitage that FALSE CHRISTIANS cause. I know thats not reality, that those who claim to be Christian would actually follow Jesus teachings , but I wanted to make a point to non believers who blame God for what his worshipers are doing. Were actually supposed to be peaceful, regardless of what is done to us. Like it, accept it, or not. Your choice, but thats what Jesus said and taught.

You seem to forget Mr. Stalin and his quest for Global Communism (Comintern) and operation Thunderhead? Stalin invaded other nations and murdered many of his own people long before Hitler came along. Stalin wiped out the Ukrian and Russian Orthidox Churches.

Stalin also used the Russian orthodox church to control the people and encourage them to fight. An atheist nation with a state run church. Curious. Again another example of religion far removed from what Jesus taught. I repeat, don't blame God these people arnt listening to him. And yes he will intervene soon but that won't turn out well for most. Go on and keep fighting you so called followers.

I am a follower of Christ...my personal relationship with Him is just that...personal. If you are addressing me with your attitude think again pal. You have no idea what I do in my service to Christ! NO ONE KNOWS WHO WILL BE IN HEAVEN BUT GOD...if you do follow Christ the way you say you do...quit arguing with everybody...get on your knees and pray for them! That is what Jesus called us to do...not judge the unbeliever...love them, pray for them...alot of people come on these religious forums to make fun...I don't give a rip...judgement and strife will never convince anyone Jesus loves them. That my brutha...is the bottom line.

ps funny that a topic on war, hatred and oppression proves that it is alive and well in a "civilized" society and small city like Kelowna. :127:

I was not even thinking of you with my comments. Yours were the only comments that even seemed to support peace.

Nice try tryscotty, Stalin wiped out the Church and shipped Christians and their priest to Siberia. The only time Stalin let the Church come back is when they were losing the war at first. All the Priests he allowed were all NKVD agents.
