Atheists live in closets ??? I don’t get it. Why are they so scared ?
LOL. For $200 you can put that on a bus side
Actually, for about $2000 you can put it on several buses for a month. Go for it.
And yes, "coming out" applies to a lot of people trapped as atheists in religious families here in the valley and elsewhere. It's a very tough thing, in so many cases, to "divorce" yourself from religion and maintain the same family ties. The young people dependent on their families have a particularly hard time. It is, many times, an easier transition with some outside support and advice. Since many of our members come from religious upbringings, they can at least empathize. That is why we tend to use that same terminology.
Thanks for the posts. I look forward to reading your opinions as our next campaign takes shape and rolls out here in the valley.

It's display time we have already paid for but did not get. We paid for a month. We got less than 2 weeks.
So as I understand it, the signs will be replaced and the entire month will be run from that point. Is that true?
RePete wrote:As I asked, would you be outraged if you were in our shoes? Or would you shrug your shoulders and just suck it up because it's controversial? I suppose I could compare it to a woman wearing provocative clothing having the right to remain unmolested, but that would be way over the top. The ads were indeed meant to create dialogue and debate, but we did not expect an out and out theft. That is outrageous. These bus ads have run in many parts of the world and (to my knowledge) have never been stolen.
You feel we are whining and it get's "real tired real fast". That's unfortunate but that's your right. Some will feel that way but I believe that most won't.
My point is that the signs are going to be replaced, and the contract fulfilled.Everything will have been set right. I get the distinct feeling that those representing the CIF are milking the thing for free publicity at this point, even though the situation will have been remedied. Really, what are the chances of catching the "perpetrator" at this point? Somewhere between slim and none? That is obvious to everyone, even those who insist on dragging and re-dragging a done deal into the news. If they pesist it will work against them, even more so than it already has.

In the Capital News today there is an article about the bus ads in which Guy King, head of the Kelowna CFI is quoted as saying "...hopefully someone will rip them off again." and making a faith based pronouncement of "We've either got one fanatical religious person or it's a mistake." The head of the Center for Inquiry is only able to conceive of two possibilities for the theft of these signs? Inquiry eh?

Aside from what the Center For Inquisition believes, I think the likely culprit probably believes that he/she has a religious justification for removing the signs, but in reality they have personally missed the morality boat by a few sailings.

It's not so much about the religion, but rather the relationship you have with God.

I think it could one been one of the bus drivers, that took off the ads.
