I wouldn't know, I don't read Fiction!

The Bible does not state there is an eternal hell. The Bible states those who aren't of the righteous who survive armageddon will be cast into a lake of fire and destroyed.
Still doesn't sound like much fun, but it's not eternal, either.
P.S. I wouldn't call myself Christian.

Ditto. I didn't answer the poll because none of the choices accurately state what I believe the bible says.
I suppose you could rephrase it to ask if people believe in a) "eternal-firery-torment" type hell b) eternal death, meaning you're just dead forever without the ever burning torment c) neither because the bible is just a bunch of bs and when you're dead you're dead...

Where in that parable is hell?
I realize it has the rich man in agony and the beggar at Abraham's side, but being that this is told as a parable, I don't see that being a claim as to hell being real.

Hell, just like heaven or God are very subjective concepts, really.
Sarcasm is like a good game of chess. Most people don't know how to play chess.

That's my thought too. They're not real, geographical locations, more of a metaphor for the rewards/penalties of leading a moral/immoral life. And they're not something you have to wait for death to experience.

I've had a few days in my life where hell was on earth...

More importantly, if there is a Hell is it endothermic or exothermic?

I love Douglas Adams quotes. This one seems strikingly appropriate:
What to do if you find yourself stuck in a crack in the ground underneath a giant boulder you can't move, with no hope of rescue. Consider how lucky you are that life has been good to you so far. Alternatively, if life hasn't been good to you so far, which given your current circumstances seems more likely, consider how lucky you are that it won't be troubling you much longer.
I'd like to change your mind, but I don't have a fresh diaper.

It's nice to see the Poll accurately reflect societies current conscience of the subject.
