Re: Church is a profitable business?
If no one ever gave any money, there would be no churches.
There's nothing wrong with churches in my opinion.
Suppose someone owns an apartment building in Penticton, with forty units
that each rent for $800, so they earn $32,000/month. Now suppose an Ethiopian
coffee picker earns $1.00/day for some hard labour in the hot sun. What the Christian
preachers are trying to say, is that God WANTS EVERYONE to pay ten percent of what they earn,
no matter how poor you are. So the lawyer that gets paid $300.00/hr to do nothing, and the
African farm labourer that earns $1.00/day for hard labour are each supposed to give
ten percent to a church. Nope. I don't agree.
And then there are the Christian preachers that say God will bless you MORE if you give
money to a church. Nope. Some people will be blessed financially, and others will work hard
and not get ahead very easily, especially now with prices for everything going up. For a preacher
to lump EVERYONE in the same category, and say they will get lots of money if they give
money to a church is dishonest.
Are you a millionaire? Do you have millions of dolalrs in the bank, and are you hoping
to maybe cover some of the sins you've done earlier in your life - then YES, give some
money to a church, and it's tax deductible. Everyone wins.

That would be a good start.
I wonder if the same thing would happen for lawyers?
You cannot reason someone out of a position that they did not use reason to arrive at.

Ah, I see the old Word of Faith message is alive and well.

GREAT! Let's do that. Let's quit brainwashing the masses.

And these religious leaders have the gonads to say you must be broken and meek to be able to come into the kingdom of god.
Guess none of them will make it, because their bank acct is pretty fat.
I know how much my parents gave, sure never got them anywhere, but herbie armstrong sure flew around the world in his first class jet.

I doubt you're giving any money to the church currently.
Some people like giving money to the church.
Some people actually enjoy donating.

Re: Church is a profitable business?
I could never find anywhere in the bible where it says we're supposed
to give money. I think some people back then gave money to some other
people but that doesn't mean we're supposed to do the exactly same thing.
One scripture i the old testament says 'You've robbed God of tithes' and that
scares people. I also think tithes were food, to be given to a storehouse, probably
to feed people. Not money.
But I'll finish this post later.
