Is there a god? What is the meaning of life?

To me, that particular teaching seems a little convoluted. Maybe I have heard it, but it's not something that was ever stressed, since it's really not the point of the story.
What I do remember is Jesus went into the tomb and when they checked it he was gone, then his "spirit" made a few visits to some people and then he was gone.

That story is also found in the New testament. Jesus was entombed and his tomb was guarded, in fear that his followers may try to remove his body. However, despite being guarded, when Mary Magdelane returned to the tomb on Sunday she found that despite being guarded Jesus body was gone. It was then that Angels appeared and told her that Jesus had risen and gone to Galilee.

There are so many versions of who God is and who Jesus is that it is hard not to believe that it is just a story.

Oh I know it's in the New Testament. Whether it happened or not, it's still a story.
Whether it was "angels" or "Jesus" appearances were made to several more people, not just Mary Magdalene. It's where the term "Doubting Thomas" comes from :)

We are also told that he has a son Jesus- (must be hispanic).
So if god is busy running the universe(s),
what is jesus doing - I mean right now - today?

Ok, back to the topic at hand:

I think Jesus has already returned, but he hasn't been able to find a church that will accept him, so he's probably hanging out on the streets with the homeless and the prostitutes.

About 12 years ago, while driving across the Burrard St Bridge, I saw a man, carrying a small back pack, his face was radiating pure joy.
Who knows perhaps it was _________

I have a sneaking feeling that the guy on the Burrard st bridge was a fellow who we used to call Easter Egg, AKA Robert B.
Easter Egg was put on him by a very young kid - "you look like a easter egg" the kid said, and it stuck. He lived in the hollow tree in Stanley Park for a year or so. Last I officially heard of him he was teaching english in a high school somewhere around Chilliwack. I hope he is doing well, he made the world a better place.

Ok..just so we're clear. I am not a practicing Anglican, but I was born and baptized as such. I have Catholics, Christians, Protestants and Jehovahs in my family and many of my friends practice some form of religion. I don't question their beliefs nor do I make fun of them. However I have to wonder why so many people think its amusing to poke fun at religious people. I mean, I've seen people on here that are really ignorant about it.

I've seen people go onto a religious thread just to make fun of someone. Doesn't that just prove the point that some of them try to make that those who don't believe are ignorant. I dunno..just sayin.

I could not agree with you more here. I know that Christians are starting to be persecuted, but we have not seen anything yet.
However, when there was the fire recently over by Sailview Bay, I posted a note and ended it with, lets keep praying for everyone's saftey, well!!!!!! YOU DO NOT say the word pray in this forum!! All the athiests come out of the woodwork and attacked. What problem do they have with me praying for the saftey of our local people in an emergency? It was insane that they should get so offended by that and attack me. I decided that would be my last post, it is not like this is most other forums. There is such ignorance and hate in this place. But gee, here I am back again, a glutten for punishment. If I want to pray I will pray, and to tell me not to bother to pray for their saftey, I mean come on. I wasn't asking them to pray.
Yes there is 2 or 3 people that will come into the religious threads just to poke fun and be totally ignorant. Immature.
You cannot come into this topic even to have a Christian conversation with other Christians, the non-believers have to shove their noses into it and destroy the conversation to pieces. No other forum have I been to that was this bad.

I think that's more of a human issue than anything to do with believer/non-believer leanings. Some people just can't resist the lack of accountability that internet anonymity provides, and seize the opportunity to express themselves in a less than courteous and respectful way. This forum has had its share of people from both ends of the belief spectrum that come up way short on manners.

Getting back to the original "Question"...

Jesus is as omnipotent as God, our creator, when it comes to matters of the earth and the saving of our mortal souls.

The son of god is everywhere and his handiwork is seen in all things that we experience as mortal spirit creatures during our individual sojourns through our roughly 22,000 day lifespans.

Our moment by moment thoughts and actions are observed by Jesus, judged and tabulated by him against the negative influences we are exposed to and our souls are sorted out by him and his assisting host of angels, cherubim, seraphim etc.

Right now he is holding back these forces of satanic influences that currently dominate this planet while at the same time responding to those souls who genuinely seek his and the father's guidance through these days of turmoil.

Thank you Jesus (insert prayer smilie here)

Amen...
