Spiritual Awakenings :)
I have recently had a few spiritual awakenings that have restored me to better heath......6 months ago i quit smoking.........
bang, the compulsion and obsession have been removed by the help of chantix and most importantly the daily talks i have with a higher power....sincere talks with HP.
thank you....so then .....
Bang.....
my obssession and complusion with food has been removed..........(this has been 2 weeks now)....
i feel so free and alive and good, and i just want to share my experiences and happiness and thankfullness with you all.
Any one else have similar experiences?? please share as well, as i want to hear all about it as well.
thanks!

Whatever floats your boat. If you think that's what it took to stop smoking, etc., good.
I asked a doctor once what he thought of laser therapy for quitting smoking. He said, if you stop smoking, it worked for you.

You cannot reason someone out of a position that they did not use reason to arrive at.

That's it exactly. If the concept of a higher power in whatever way you choose to frame it helps you put things in perspective then why not? The trick is to have a concept that you are comfortable with, something that is believable to you, and something that has a degree of built-in flexibility to allow your concept of an HP to evolve as your knowledge and experience does. It's not necessary that your concept marches in lockstep with anybody else's, but it has to be something that lets you be honest with yourself.
When asked what he thought of Western civilization, Mahatma Ghandi replied "I think it would be a very good idea."

I am glad that you were able to successfully quit smoking and address your over eating issue. Most people would have a hard time doing both.

Re: Spiritual Awakenings :)
Spiritual awakenings are like those "Aha! moments when something becomes perfectly clear. One such event happened to me while reading Tom Robbin's Jitterbug Perfume. There is a scene where the hero is very upset because his life partner had gone on ahead of him, leaving him alone. He sees in the dust on the mantle a simple message scribbled - Lighten up". I literally flew backwards out of my chair and landed on the floor on the other side of the room, laughing my head off. Every implication of that statement became perfectly clear in a split second. One on the most profound insight was that it is impossible to become enlightened by being serious about it. People who take religion or spirituality seriously will never get it. To be enlightened is to be light of spirit, light of heart, light of mind, to see the humour in all aspects of life, in everything you do and experience. It is when I came to the conclusion that the purpose of life was to be happy in spite of all the insanity around us. To shine light into the darkness is the only action worthy of our endeavour. Religion is a hindrance to that action. It takes itself to seriously.
Trying to get spiritual nourishment from a two thousand year old book is like trying to suck milk from the breast of a woman who has been dead that long.
