There is no such thing as a Christian Conservative

Post by Shanbo »

Sorry Pastor Dave, you can't call yourself a Christian and a Conservative.

Why?

Because Jesus was about "Love Thy Neighbor", and conservatism is about "#%#@ Thy Neighbor".

That's the big law in the New Testament. Not abortion. Not gay marriage. But how you treat other people.

Yeah, I can hear what you're saying: "Well, I'm all in favor of personal charity, but I just don't think the government should do it."

Well guess what; in a democratic society we ARE the government!

Essentially, when conservatives vote against government programs, they're emptying somebody's fridge and then feeling charitable when they toss them back a can of beans.

I am thankful that there are many Christian churches out there that don't support Pastor Dave's philosphy. It's just the loudest ones that do.

I don't know where you get your definition of conservative (Bleep thy neighbour), but your loving jesus guy came from a vengeful, spiteful god that regularly killed people, according to that bible book.

Why is right, why are you still here?

You have posted 3 more times since you told Castanet you were leaving and never coming back.

Are you a Politician?

Every forum has one.

The other forum I am on, there was a guy who said good bye and then showed up every day to see if people were talking about him. They banned him permanently.

Mind if I post the definition or two for you? Notice the absence of any reference to "#%#@", "Thy", or "Neighbor" within the definition...

Conservatism: a political or theological orientation advocating the preservation of the best in society and opposing radical changes.

Conservatism (Latin: conservare, "to preserve") is a political and social philosophy that promotes the maintenance of traditional institutions and supports, at the most, minimal and gradual change in society.

Biased definition and also curiously incorrect. Slavery, not giving women the vote, not allowing natives to vote, trying children as adults, allowing torture and corperal punishment in our penal system, anti-welfare, anti-social medicine were all fostered by "Conservatism".

Infact, pretty much every keystone of our modern society was build on blocks that were opposed and resisted by conservatives.

"The best in society" - indeed.

Everything Jesus supposedly said screamed of socialism. So it's quite confounding to hear most Conservatives say they're Christians. They are the antithesis of Christ and his teachings.

What I heard is that practicing Christians only make up about 37% of Canadians. So I doubt most conservatives and liberals are Christian. Oh, and NDPers are all godless commies I suppose.

Dude, you're all over the place and changing the rules mid-conversation. You do realize there is a big difference between the number of people who call them selves Christians and the number of practicing Christians, right?

An interesting chat by Penn Jillette on why he prefers fundamentalist Christians to liberal Christians.

If we tell someone their subjective experience(UL) is wrong, we are defining it as objective experience(UR). It's like speaking two different languages and expecting understanding.
