I am well versed in your bible - that is why I find it so humourous that some posters on here try to connect a christmas tree to the text.....( you might want to start with your television if you are idol hunting - everyday of the year)

Anyway enjoy your families pagan based religious custom even if you are neither
based on the OP it sounds like your church celebrates the same custom ........

Re: Christmas trees
What I don't get, is why people have to murder a tree (or buy a tree that has been murdered) every year. Why not plant one in a pot and use it every year. I have heard that the oxygen in the atmosphere is down 30% in the last 100 years. We need more trees out there absorbing C02 and pumping out oxygen. Close to a billion trees are murdered every year to this pagan ritual. Talk about blood rituals! That never used to happen. Something is just not right.
Trying to get spiritual nourishment from a two thousand year old book is like trying to suck milk from the breast of a woman who has been dead that long.

Re: Christmas trees
I "killed" literally 100's of thousands of trees during my logging days. Big 'uns and littl'uns.
We referred to this harvesting as "view enhancement" not murder...
Most of the trees I talked to didn't mind, although some of the old growth trees did try to kill me back and they do make a helluva scream on their way down.
The ones used for Christmas are being "re-purposed" and apparently love getting all blinged out...

Killing trees is murder as they are living things. No way around it.

Please, this is complete and utter nonsense. Another good example of bad science employed by non-scientists, to be swallowed whole by the laziest of 'thinkers'. Good grief!
Here is another bad science myth: Forests produce buckets of lovely oxygen.
False! The forest ecosystem produces an insignificant net amount of oxygen due to the biodiversity that makes up that ecosystem. Do bears breath in the woods? Worms? Pine beetles? Ants? Birds?
Think!

Re: Christmas trees
Ah yes...
The old, "We live in houses made of wood, use paper for work and reading pleasure and to wipe up after ourselves while at the same time driving polluting automobiles and using gadgetry that causes pollution but don't want to admit it cuz we are sensitive and think those who provide wood are evil" syndrome.
Seen it before. Good luck with that...
Here's something to saw on for ya; IMHO, 100 years of car and gadget salesmen have done more damage to this planet than 10,000 yrs of logging.
And besides, God said it was OK (Genesis)...

You live amongst the carcasses of thousands of dead trees ( the murdered trees help stop the rain from splashing your face while you sleep) MORE PLASTIC! Save a tree!
you kill off billions of living critters every time you scratch an itch - thanks for the concern for the christmas (the majority are born and replanted for this purpose) trees though

Don't mind logging as long as it's done properly. Of course you will say it is. You have to justify your living.
Did God talk to you ? You know the Bible was written by mortals, right ?

Well then, by that loose definition, we are also all murderers and cannibals when we pick flowers and eat food.

I, for one, am not a cannibal since I don't eat human beings, but yes, I'm a carnivore. Love my meat !! And yes animals are living creatures. I love flowers and plants as well ... also living things. Don't mind cutting them ( murdering them ).

If God hadn't meant for us to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them out of meat.
