Were they ever legally married? When did marriage become fashionable?

When the organized religions decided it was the best way to control the people and get them to bring up their offspring within the confines of the church is when "marriage" was invented. They also invented "heaven" and "hell" to terrify the people into obeying them.

Adam and Eve had 2 sons. And then what ? Incest to populate the earth. Makes no sense to me.

I don't think the original authors of the bible ever intended it to be taken as an accurate account of history. More like a collection of fables meant to convey a moral message metaphorically.

If one is to take the bibble literally then incest (whether it was a conceived notion at the time or not) was rampant, in the beginning. Furthermore, it was also rampant after the whole Noah/ark episode.

Thou shalt not covet the neighbour's wife (but apparently you can covet your mother).

And the sons of gods came down to Earth and lay with the daughters of Man. Says so right in Genesis. No Adam and Eve, just good ol' Cro Magnon Man and some *bleep* aliens..

I think this is what he meant:
What the Bible appears to refer to as the Annunaki are the ‘sons of God’ (Gen.6; & Job 38) who left heaven. Called ‘gods’ & worshiped by Cains offspring &…- before the Flood & started up again with Nimrod [Mardak, Tammaz] after the Flood, Gen.10:8-19; chp.11 cp Micah 5:6.). **
:
"And it came to pass… That the sons of God saw the daughters of Adam &…they took them wives…There were giants (Nephilim) in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God [angels] came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men, which were of old, men of renown." Gen.6:1-4.** [=demigods.
The giants/Nephilim. on the other hand, appear distinct from these & these angels that came down later; & may have been of Satan & the fallen angels that were cast out earlier]

The Nephilim are not linked found linked to the geneaology of Cain or Seths, but their forefathers were of Anak of Arba [Anu?] Joshua 15:13; 21:11: 14:15 called the: Anakims,Deut.1:28, etc.= giants:
"And there we saw the giants (Nephilim) the sons of Anak, which come of the giants (Nephilim) and we were in our eyes as grasshoppers…" Numbers 13:33. ** [Nephilim: see video *** & there were different clans of giants]

The term: "sons of God" is explained in Job 38:7 (vrs.1-7) ** and reveals them to be angels. Job states, they were created before the earth, thus, before Adam.

["sons of God" are referred to as angels- called the Watchers in the book of Enoch (this book is not in the Bible), Enoch says that 200 of them came down and mixed with the daughters of Adam and begat giants. In the Bible, Jude quotes directly from this book of Enoch, Jude 1:14,15. Also, there were two different "Enochs" one was the son of the ungodly Cain (Gen.4:17,18); the other (godly) Enoch was of Seths line, the son of Jared, Gen.5:19. Some have erred not making this distinction]

Apostle Peter says: "For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell (Gk. Tartarus), and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment" 2 Peter 2:4. **

Jude says:"And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day." Jude 1:6. **
Something did go on back then but "The secret things belong to the Lord our God…" Deut.29:29. **

These "gods" & "giants" are mention in over 500 ancient pagan Legends around the world, according to Graham Hancock ****; and by others who have done extensive research on these subjects… Sitchin’s is just one of these.

Bingo. I like my version better, but the biblical version is suitable for those who believe those texts.

And my version isn't fuzzy, it is just a little more whimsical.
