And god created... Death.

Is there a god? What is the meaning of life?

And god created... Death.

Post by French Castanut »

The bible says that god created every creature and living thing on earth.

I'm wondering.. why would god create deadly viruses and atrocious sicknesses if he cared for us?

Drying peacefully because of the orinigel sin wasn't enough? On top of that, let make these lil bugger getting sick before they die?

What's the purpose of the pest, all viruses, worms etc.. all these little bugs in a so can eden garden?

Please explain.

Because we *bleep* him off?

I think viruses and such are part of the natural cycles of life to help keep balance in the world. Imagine if nothing dies. We would be up to our eye balls in flies alone. There would be so much humanity we would have to Occupy Saturn.
Trying to get spiritual nourishment from a two thousand year old book is like trying to suck milk from the breast of a woman who has been dead that long.

I think your view of God is rather archaic. The ideas of intelligent design and the benevolent cosmic dictator are slipping out of popularity, giving way to a more metaphorical interpretation of ancient texts such as the bible. It is possible to hold a view of God that allows for peaceful coexistence of a spiritual life and scientific fact. Of course that would mean that the whole believer/non-believer controversy becomes moot and that seems to disappoint some, but what the heck, who needs all that fighting anyways?
When asked what he thought of Western civilization, Mahatma Ghandi replied "I think it would be a very good idea."

The trend does seem to be going in that direction but the fundies are rather loud and still trying to infect schools and other institutions with their nonsense, so expect the fighting to continue until they go the way of the dodo.

Except...

He does love everything and everyone for the roles they play in bringing equilibrium to the universe and our own individual lives whether it be spiritual or science based...

It says in the bible that its appointed upon every man once to die.
The big dude's gotta kill us somehow.
If we all died at exactly the same age, life itself would be kinda freaky.
