How can God hear 7 billion people's prayers?

Is there a god? What is the meaning of life?

How can God hear 7 billion people's prayers?

Post by Thinktank »

The good thing is - God only hears Christians prayers. And there are two billion of us.

There are two billion Christians in the world. That's a big number of people
to be praying all at once. Fortunately, if a prayer takes three minutes, there are
480 different 'three minutes sections' per day, so that means if everyone
on earth prays every day for three minutes, 4 million people are saying a prayer at once.

If everyone prays just once per week, that
means God only has to hear 570,000 people at a time - which is not bad odds that God will hear your prayer.

If 90% of those people who claim to be Christian never say a prayer, then only 57,000 people on earth will be
praying every three minutes. So there is a good chance God will hear your prayer.
If you have to be persuaded reminded bullied pressured bribed incentivized, lied to, guilt tripped, coerced, socially shamed, censored, threatened, paid, punished and criminalized, to gain your compliance- the thing is no good

1-chip, countless processes simultaneously. If man can create that why would it be a stretch for our creator to do it?

Or there is no god, no one is listening and prayer does squat (other than to give some pseudo-warm-fuzzy-feeling to the people doing the praying.)
You cannot reason someone out of a position that they did not use reason to arrive at.

Thats some peoples thought. My point was, that communicating with an extreme amount of sources at one time is done daily in our world, so that should answer the question.

Not only am I amazed that Thinktank spent all that time calculating the absurd, but that his remark that only Christians are heard (if he is serious) is so outrageously bigoted that I'm amazed by that too.

There are several types of prayers, one being the "god I really want a 52" plasma TV. Could you arrange to have one delivered for me. Thanks." And then there is the "Lord, it would be really nice if the poor would not be so poor and the sick be healed. That would be really great. Thanks". Which one do you think god would prefer to hear? And if god is busy taking care of the universe, do you think he appreciates being bothered all the time by your petty wants and needs? If I was god and had to put up with that crap day in and day out, I would be planning my next cataclysmic event to wipe out those pesky little carbon based units so I could get some peace and quiet.
Trying to get spiritual nourishment from a two thousand year old book is like trying to suck milk from the breast of a woman who has been dead that long.

Let's not forget that all those prayers are coming in in a load of different languages too, it must be a real tangle to deal with. It must peeve God off to no end to have his staff floating around plinking their little harps when there's a collation nightmare of (dare I say?) biblical proportions going on in the office.
When asked what he thought of Western civilization, Mahatma Ghandi replied "I think it would be a very good idea."

...and if that really blows you away, let's not even begin to grapple with the idea of omniscience and omnipotence. :runforlife:

Surely there's an app that has replaced Post-It notes?

Apple has "Stickies" - virtual Post-It notes.

Supposedly god doesn't need them. It is omnipotent after all.
