How can God hear 7 billion people's prayers?

Is there a god? What is the meaning of life?

Yes, because God is nothing if not insecure and vengeful.

As for the rest of you, you better hope he isn't real. I do believe he's real and reading briefly your remarks are like listening to complete immature children with low IQ's. Mocking in general just isn't nice and the ones who do it, ARE childish.

And, of course, it would never occur to you that many people have trouble reconciling a god who so insecure and emotionally immature as to require constant praise and adoration, is prone to fits of jealousy and rage and would make his imperfect creation fry for eternity for the slightest infraction of its silly rules? I don't think people mock god so much as they mock this god of yours.

I have as much trouble trying to figure out why people need a god to bow down to, who need a master to tell them how to live and behave toward their fellow travelers. There are millions of people who find joy and meaning in life without a god. Is not life itself enough to justify getting out of bed in the morning?

As to prayer, there are different types. If it helps people consolidate their thoughts, focus on themselves, no harm is done. But most god botherers I have met are so focused on their selfish petty needs that if I were god, I would slap them upside the head with a 2 X 4. "I want a 52" plasma TV just like Henry's." I would give it to him alright: drop it on his head from 6 miles up.

this forum has an amazing amount of atheists for some reason. But my thread is in
no way intended to mock God. I like to mock religious people sometimes though.

Mockery is a sign one has a bad case of trolls.

I think it's mainly because atheists choose to be very vocal and militant about their believes while religious people are fairly secure in their believes and see no need to troll atheists about their views. In that sense, atheists come off as very childish and insecure. There are exceptions of course, but that's the main picture.

This is all fully explained in the Urantia Book.

Not quite sure how you came to this conclusion since as far as I can see if religious people were so secure about their views then they wouldn't accuse everyone else of being sinners for not agreeing with them.

But both sides are silly for professing that they are 100% certain that a God does/does not exist. A faith is something that you need to believe even when you cannot explain it. That's why it's called a faith. At this point, any attempt to prove or disprove of His existence is futile. How do you intend to prove the non/existence of something that is supposed to be almighty, untouchable and unseen?

Why can't anyone just admit that we DON'T KNOW and only BELIEVE? Isn't arrogance something that both sides are against?

I'm only talking about people on Castanet. I don't see (not sure if I ever saw) people accusing others of being sinners. But I do see a whole lot of people proclaiming that religious people are idiots and religions are stupid since there's no god. Hence my observation that non-religious people tend to be more insecure in their position and have to reinforce it constantly by making such claims.

PS: I'm not religious.

If that’s true, then why are you here implying people with spiritual or religious beliefs are superstitious
– instead of just having beliefs different from yourself ?
