Four Great Relics of King Charlemagne Aachen Germany

Is there a god? What is the meaning of life?

Four Great Relics of King Charlemagne Aachen Germany

Four Great Relics as they are known are housed in Charlemagne Cathedral in Aachen Germany. Only put on display every 7 years. Next display will be in 2021.

Charlemagne collected a variety of relics during his lifetime, which are still kept in Aachen Cathedral. The four most important are impressive indeed:

the cloak of the Blessed Virgin;
the swaddling-clothes of the Infant Jesus;
the loin-cloth worn by Christ on the Cross; and
the cloth on which lay the head of St. John the Baptist after his beheading.

In the Middle Ages, these relics attracted swarms of pilgrims from Germany, Austria, Hungary, England, Sweden, and other countries. In the mid-14th century, it became customary to show the four "Great Relics" only once every seven years, a custom which continues today.

Adorned with the figures of Christ, Mary, Charlemagne, Pope Leo III and the Twelve Apostles, the shrine contains the four great Aachen relics: St. Mary's cloak, Christ's swaddling clothes, St. John the Baptist's beheading cloth & Christ's loincloth. The cathedral also carries "3 small relics" Mary and Jesus.

We know that the Church for hundreds of years scammed people by selling fake relics, so this isn't very impressive. They are as fake as the Shroud of Turin.

Your proof to the fake news.... [icon_lol2.gif]

They can't be making much profit since they only bring the items out every 7 years.... :smt045

Is it though? You've never heard of the marketing tactic of artificial scarcity? It can work pretty well.

This topic isn't about lemonade stands. If you don't see obvious marketing ploys by keeping "relics" hidden for 7 years then allowing them to be viewed for a short period of time I'd suggest reading a bit about business practices.

AND this is wrong? If that is the way they choose to run their business, what is wrong with that?

Where did I say it's wrong? I said it's an obvious marketing ploy. It's like people aren't reading my comments at all.

Now it's debatable which is the oldest known profession between.... prostitution or scam artists, both have been around since the beginning of time.
Because those who may have actually wore the items in question are not around to verify their authenticity, then who really knows.

my 2 cents & only comment, moving on/getting back to football game (soccer).
