More people have died and more wars have been fought in the name of religion, than all others through history.
Religion is on the decline and religious zealots are being found to be immoral.
How can one have faith in any religion when you can't have faith in their leaders?
Unless they are Indigenous, correct? Dropping "religion" into one big bucket is not only bigoted, it is disgusting. For shame.

Sins that are deemed to be immoral in some countries, are not in others. Improper wearing of a "hijab" get a visit from the "morality police" yet here, it doesn't matter. Multiple wives are fine, yet here it's bigomy. In places, abortion is immoral, being gay is immoral. Depends on where you are and the community values. Does that "immoral" act offend the community, or is it accepted as a norm?
Morality is a complex issue which may have little impact by your belief in god whoever he/she may be. Maybe we, as humanity, are outgrowing that foundation and see its decline, as faith in institutions decline.
So things are moral because people in authority say so? Or because the majority believe it?

"Morality is the belief that some behaviour is right and acceptable and that other behaviour is wrong.
A morality is a system of principles and values concerning people's behaviour, which is generally accepted by a society or by a particular group of people.
The morality of something is how right or acceptable it is."

Morality is in the eye of the beholder. Depends on ones moral compass which differs per individual.
Additionally, if you live in Texas, it is perfectly acceptable to carry a gun. You have the moral high ground. Is it morally right to use it against a group of school kids? It is becoming more commonplace. Will that soon become morally acceptable?

Religion (Faith) was just an ancient way to explain natural phenomenon that couldn't be explained by science (that didn't exist at the time). Religious leaders then preyed on the faithful by inventing 'gods' and 'holy spirits' to impose their views (moral and behavioural) to control the masses (no pub intended). Every culture has done this but with the proliferation of common science knowledge, it is no wonder that religion is on the wane.

It has been said that organized religion does for true spirituality much the same that Alphagetti does for Italian cuisine.

This statement is tone-deaf. Religion in this country tried to eradicate any competition. Residential schools' mandate was to purge indigenous traditions from memory - or trigger terror if they did remember. If indigenous want to find their culture and their traditions - I am all for that. And if they wanna protect it and their land - I am ok with that too.

Yup, it really is.

Religion could have been an early way of controlling the masses. The ten commandments were the first rules of law for society.

In desperate times, people may have prayed to the gods to help in crisis. Or maybe we were visited by extraterrestrials that came from the sky and humans believed they were gods.

Who knows? I'm not religious, but most religious people I've met are decent and moral people. I would rather someone talk to my child about God/religion than telling them they can be any gender they want..

This is actually not true at all. 7% of wars were fought over religion and 93% for non-religious reasons.

War is not about religion or not, it's about greed, envy, etc. that all humans are capable of falling for.

“The line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either — but right through every human heart.” Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

Religion is not in decline (although it is in the US and Canada) because the percentage of people worldwide who belong to a religion is on the rise.

Interesting read. Thanks for that. Then it occurred to me..what is CARM?
https://carm.org/atheism/the-myth-that- ... se-of-war/
It especially became apparent when the article started to quote bible paragraphs. Sorry, that stopped me in my tracks, as we all know the bible is a compilation of fictitious short stories written by various authors, mostly based around a central figure. Stories were arbitrarily picked by the Council of Hippo, held in north Africa in AD 393.
So whether these stats are correct, or not, they are biased.

This makes no sense. Stats are either right or wrong. The bias of the author doesn't matter when assessing the data.
