No Parking to fit the development !!!
Interesting that the 65 unit development wants to supply only 49 spots and kick in cash for hush money... lets see if the council and or development officer bites.... as for the 170,000 what does that buy in todays market..
Just look at the development on Elliott Road not enough parking so they have to park across the road on the gravel if any spots are open... ???? If the bylaw says 70 spots make dam sure that is allowed and or more...
Why do we let developers change the rules..?

Trying/forcing residents to use public transit, curious is there a bus stop in the area.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

Re: No Parking to fit the development !!!
As a homeowner I am required to have a driveway and parking. I am not allowed to just park all over the road as I will be towed. Why are the condos allowed to use the side of the road as a parking lot? It made a dangerous mess out of Elliott Rd. Especially trying to pull out of a side street because you can’t see around all the vehicles.
The extra money doesn’t magically make room for a car. I don’t know who thought of such a stupid idea.
Just tell the occupants that instead of a parking space their spot was a paid in lieu spot so they have to park elsewhere. Ridiculous. This has been going on for ever.

Low to mid income rental housing within walking proximity to grocery stores, the urgent care facility, library, and transit. For someone working min wage at a nearby business, it may be sufficient.

Drive down Lanfranco... I don't even know how they manage to park, nearly bumper to bumper as there isn't enough parking.
Heck, if you rent a basement suite out the City requires you to provide one off road parking spot ( yet another reason so many suites are not legal) so how come developers get a pass on the one spot per Unit?

Re: No Parking to fit the development !!!
The on street parking at one development without on
property parking was a dangerous nuisance.
Narrowing an already narrow road to the point even normal passenger vehicles
had to cross the centre line to pass.
Throw in some duffus with a dually and tow mirrors out parked there.
Well....
Now they have widened the road, bike lanes on both sides, no on street parking allowed.
hahahaha ! The 4 Sale signs are growing at that development like weeds.
eta; the actual driving lanes are even narrower there now with all the crap they jamb into
no space allowances.

Re: No Parking to fit the development !!!
The duffus is not the one driving the dually down the street narrowed to a single lane by the cars parked on either side of the road, but the person(s) in the Planning Department that “supports” the development and on Council that approves the development. Put in the required amount of parking, then if it is not used, turn that parking into secured bicycle or electric cart storage.dirtybiker wrote: ↑Jun 9th, 2024, 10:19 am The on street parking at one development without on

How do you think people got around prior to the expansion of suburban housing in the mid-twentieth century? Metro Kelowna is growing. Do you think the walk-ups on the Eastern side of the continent had parking for residents?

There are plenty of homes in town that do not have driveways. On street parking is the only option.
Ever driven around the North End?

There is a reason ample parking is part of building codes.
