Some people need to educate themselves. I went and searched google quickly and found out this documentary went from being nearly banned in AUS to winning the festival. Clearly it's a good film ...... I highly doubt that they would show any form of beastiality.
I personally find the story intriguing and would go and see it based on the reviews.

I just still don't understand why so many people spouted off enough to shut this down... Why not just don't go see it?
Why impose your value set on everybody else when they're not hurtng anyone?
Between the city's growth and the university I always hope Kelowna becomes more of a proper city and a more open minded place but for younger people stuff like this really makes you feel like this is a city where you live in a giant retirment home or the 1950s. I wasn't even slightly interested in seeing it but a little depressing anyway.

If taste was a barameter for which all things are measured, most of what Hollywood churns out should be censored and burned.theyeti wrote:this film is obviously tasteless good on the theatre to step in and pull the plug before the real outrage occured
Regardless of who "wins" an election, they always are up against a Silent Elite. Do you believe the extreme poor who voted for Trump ever thought their non-profit support would be slashed right out from under them?

So why even care if it doesn't effect you?theyeti wrote:doesnt effect me in the least .. makes me happy knowing its not coming here tho
Women being allowed to show their face is in bad taste in some countries. See any problem with people's taste dictating freedom there?

Ironic that people who do NOT want to have this crap presented in their community are being brushed with the "Why impose your value set on everybody else when they're not hurtng anyone?" rationale.
Things here were just fine before someone imposed this nonsense onto our mindset. This isn't an indication of open mindedness on the part of the proponents but more of a juvenile attempt to come up on a different twist of the "sex sells" BS that has permeated good common sense in our society.
I'm glad that this has blown up in the producers face. He built this bomb and tried to strap it onto Kelowna, let him wear it...
One doesn't have to watch a rape to know that it is a vile, evil, distasteful, violent, criminal act. Insisting that this is somehow documentary art is an indication that society is going down the wrong road.
Recording it, as an "observer", for the posterity of the vile few who are titillated by this type of trash is even more disgusting.

The only thing that has blown up in his face is the exposure it's getting, which is exactly what he wants. It's since won an award for Best Documentary in Australia.5VP wrote:I'm glad that this has blown up in the producers face.
The rest of your post is actually quite contradictory.

I found your post really confusing. I don't understand how a "live and let live" attitude could be construed as me being a proponent of sex sells? I just think that there are plenty of places where peoples freedoms are constrained by morality. Fortunately outside of some backwards pockets in Canada that's not the case. The movie actually looks really stupid to me but if we start shutting things down which hurt no one because they offend a few peoples taste we're in trouble.5VP wrote:

I didn't like "jackass" and after viewing the trailer, I have to wonder why it received awards.kgcayenne wrote:I personally don't oppose discussion or documentaries about controversial topics, but they have to be made in a way that maturely expands on the seriousness of social, cultural, and theological conflicts to other cultures including our own. Having watched the trailer, I simply can not, for one second, believe that this movie is anything but something that would have been thought up at a sophomorical frat house party. By the tone of the music and quantity of giggling, it looks like a toned down trailer for jackass.
