What makes the southern interior unique in Canada is that the daily temperature swings in December and January average as little as 4 degrees, which is the lowest of any interior place in Canada. But come August they are averaging up to 20 degrees around Midway, Rock Creek, and Lumby, the highest in Canada.

Clear but COLD. They’re now telling us it’s 12° or that it’s going to be 12° and actually it’s 5° and that would be in Kelowna so up here in Glenrosa it’s more like 2° or maybe three it’s friggin freezing

You haven't seen Arora Borealis until you visited northern Saskatchewan, they are amazing. I will stay up later so see this evening though as I miss them.

I wish I could go there but can't. The weather person on Global News said the lights would be visible at 11pm last night but I didn't see anything. I've never seen them and want to hopefully in Kelowna

I've never seen them in person myself, either I'm in bed too early or when I'm not, it's clouded over. :admin: Glacier posted a video that had some amazing footage of it.

I'm hoping for some outside time today, and hoping for some uninterrupted sunshine.

Weekend was beautiful! And forecast says more to come? :130:

https://www.castanet.net/news/Kelowna/4 ... C-all-week
The first official week of spring is here, and Mother Nature did not disappoint.

According to Environment Canada the Thompson Okanagan is expected to see daytime high temperatures sitting at around 11 C for the majority of the week along with lots of sunshine.

"Temperatures will hover near normal for this week. It will be pretty quiet weather," said Ken Dosanjh, Environment Canada meteorologist.

No precipitation is in the forecast all week.

Monday will reach a high of 10 C with cloudy periods. The overnight low will drop down to zero.

Tuesday will see a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 11 C.

Wednesday and Thursday are looking like the nicest days of the week with highs of 12 C and mainly sunshine.

Both Friday and Saturday are currently expected to see a mix of sun and clouds and highs of 11 C.

It's been sunny but the cloud formations and hues of light in the sky have been boring looking.

Huge daily temperature swings lately, much higher than normal

Here is what the normals look like for Castlegar (as an example). Canadian monthly extremes also shown.

It clouded over just after midnight, but wow, between 11 and 12 last night it was the most amazing aurora borealis I've ever seen in the Okanagan!

Snowing on the hills, 4C and raining in town. Looks like an inside day.

I'm asleep as usual.

Got word today that Greenwood got four inches of snow last night too. Put a kabosh on a sofa/chair pick up this weekend. I'm oddly glad.

Rain is forecast for today and tomorrow. I'm tired of overcast skies, and missing the sun. I don't mind the rain, if it actually does rain - this indeterminate blah is so depressing.
