It's the kind of day where one can sit by the window and watch the rain come down. Very relaxing.
I'm posting this from Traditional lands of the British Empire & the current Lands of The Dominion of Canada.
I also give thanks for this ethos richness bestowed on us via British Colonialism.

That's all I can do for today......since I washed the car yesterday and the streets are too wet.

It only rained for about 5 minutes today at my place, and that was first thing this morning... And watch, now it will rain.

It's looking like we could set all time May records around the 17th! We're talking into the 40s. BC has only ever hit 40 twice in May, Lillooet in the 1936 and Boston Bar and Lytton in 1983.

The 41.7C set in 1936 could be obliterated. It's shaping up to be that hot.

I just looked at multiple 14 day forecasts from different sources and nothing above 30 mentioned, in fact not even up to 30 by 17th. :135:

Weather Network is showing 31°C on May 14th and 15th but that will more than likely change in a couple of hours knowing how often they backpedal.

Temps are supposed to rise this week. I really enjoyed the cooler (spring) weather this weekend. Even if I did get rained on. Things are looking lovely, the way it has greened up.

Kelowna's hottest day on record for May is 34.4C, we might get close to that. Some of the weather sites with longer forecasts show it getting even warmer after the 14th, to like 33, 34 degrees.

The forecasts don't show that but the models do. And they are largely in agreement. If Kelowna doesn't shatter its all time May record, I'll be extremely shocked.

And that was in 1983. That heat wave was AMAZING! The crazy thing is that in Kelowna was cool compared to other places in BC and even the Yukon. 36C in the Yukon north of Dawson... and Dawson is a 5 hour drive north of Whitehorse!

37C in central BC at over 900m/3000ft elevation. Hotter at lower elevations.

Over 40C in the Fraser Canyon.

I see thundershowers in the forecast, but not a high probability.

Drip_Torch wrote: May 8th, 2023, 9:42 pm This heatwave doesn't cause me anywhere near as much concern as what happens at the back end of it. Glacier, I know you keep an eye on things, did you see what happened with the Laos/Vietnam heat dome breakdown yesterday? Cloud tops colder than -100°C. Not often you see red, black then white again in shortwave. A beast of a storm.

What goes up, will come down.
:135: is there video to this? I suspect we all wish to see it.
