Yup, one year ago, it was cold! Here is a Chilcotin thermometer one year ago...Mrmarvingardens wrote: Jan 14th, 2025, 11:56 am Does anyone remember?
On this date last year, Kelowna temperature was -31.
Killed the buds on fruit trees and damaged grape vine buds.
Farmers Almanac is right so far.
Mild winter, mild spring with above average precipitation.
PS. cold is coming to North America next week...

Re: Nice weather
Friendly reminder, Penticton, Kamloops, Kelowna, Osoyoos, etc. get MORE snow in the winter than Calgary!

Well the Valley bottom is totally lacking snow this year. Maybe this cold spell will encourage the white stuff to fall and actually blanket the plants with a protective layer for February?
Trump is a fraud but he has finally admitted that there is famine in Gaza and it's okay to agree with him, unless you have different statistics than the State Department.

Amazing. Wonder what Houston city works will cobble together for snow removal..Glacier wrote: Jan 20th, 2025, 9:36 am Snow on the Gulf of Mexico... could be the biggest snow storm in Houston, TX since 1895! 4 inches!
Years ago when Victoria had a good dump of snow, my son was standing at a street corner and heard this rumbling and then 3 little skid steers with blades on were booting down the road pushing snow. He started laughing, but I guess they used what they had.

Re: Nice weather
They basically have nothing. Victoria has far far more things for snowplowing than Houston. Houston will just have to wait until it melts, which it will do. But the morning commute with summer tires and wet, slippery snow! wow, that will be fun!seewood wrote: Jan 20th, 2025, 9:46 amAmazing. BTW, did you know that Winnipeg is actually hotter in the summer than Kamloops, Kelowna, and Penticton? At least according to the Humidex...

DC looks to have some pleasant weather in January. But I'll take New York before Washington.ferri wrote: Jan 20th, 2025, 12:48 pm Here I am again just polluting this thread because I didn't want to start another thread and I thought this was interesting.

It's not like they have any resale value this year. We bought brand new snow shovels, unused thus far.

Re: Nice weather
My snowblower is getting dusty. used the ice scraper twice this year.
Fine by me but the ground in the bush could do with some snow. Pretty dry lower down ( none) and perhaps 50 cms higher up regardless what the ski hills say is their base.

Here are stations in western Canada of similar elevation... notice how humid Lethbridge is in summer!
