I'm getting cold weather gear together for the car now - just in case. I do remember almost -35 one year but I was a lot younger back then (think that was around 1990).

Here’s a link to local weather stations. Scroll down to the map and then move it around to find a station near you.

You have a good memory. Since the Kelowna airport weather station opened up in 1968 there have only ever been 2 -35 days. The first in December 1968 and the last was Decembr 1990.

If we lower the bar a little bit to -30 days, there have been 14, 7 of which were during that first winter of 1968/69. The last -30 day was December 20th, 2008.

For fun, here is Kamloops at -30 and Penticton at -22 (it has never been -30 in Penticton)...

The snowpack has tanked, as in, it's been very dry with no new accumulation this month.

It's currently the 3rd lowest for this date at the Mission Creek snow pillow since the 1980s.

I had wondered - I was going to ask you about it. My boss skis and apparently you can see rocks up at Big White, still.

Three days ago there were whitecaps on Kal Lk.
Yesterday, ice on the South end, by Oyama, out
a 100 metres or so, now, the south end bays almost
completely froze over, and near the entire width of
the lake.

I wonder how Monroe is doing, you know, the guy who moved to Saskatoon to seek greener pasteurs?

And it's trying to snow here. Light, dry flakes, coming down sporadically.
