Re: Nice weather
Moosonee was 30.2C yesterday. Just sayin.
Moosonee is actually the hottest place in Canada more often than kelowna, usually a couple times a year. It is in far northern ontario on the shores of James Bay (Hudson Bay), and is Ontario's only salt water port... https://www.google.com/maps/place/Mooso ... -80.640049

Darn, no time for fishing. Used to hang my hooks out around the Ballenas islands.
Black Grouse inn. Know where it is but haven't been there.
Parksville, seldom eat out there but often go up to French Creek for fresh seafood. Life can be tough.

Re: Nice weather
The cooler spring weather has allowed flowers to bloom for longer periods than normal. The Arrowleaf Balsamroots have been in bloom for basically a month now, when they would normally last about 2 weeks. Same with the tulips in the neighbors garden.

You're right about that, we are getting a lovely spring show.
I am shocked to see white halfway down the mountains I can see behind my house, though!

Funny thing is, when I look back on it, I can remember the odd time we've had snow down here before the May Long, and a friend remembers a July camping trip just off the Coq where they woke up to snow.UPDATE: 9:30 a.m.
Highways through southern British Columbia's mountain passes looked more like mid-winter than mid-May Friday as Environment Canada advised another five centimetres of snow was expected before the latest unseasonable weather eased.
Special weather statements covered mountain passes along the Coquihalla Highway and Highway 3, as flurries added to the two to 10 centimetres dumped earlier in the week.
The weather office says 12 cold temperature records were tied or broken across the region on Thursday.
Records that have stood since 1911 were erased in Nanaimo and Port Alberni as the mercury couldn't edge past nine degrees and other low daytime temperatures were set in communities across Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.
Environment Canada says Vancouver's daytime high of just 10.5 degrees on Thursday broke a 58-year-old record and the chill was accompanied by heavy rain, including downpours that washed away long-standing rainfall records in five communities from Vancouver Island to the Sunshine Coast and north to the Cariboo.
Extended forecasts from the weather office show nippy conditions will continue throughout the next week over much of B.C., as most areas remain at least several degrees below normal daytime highs.
It isn't anything new, just rarer than it was. I wonder if it is our brains changing more than the weather changing . . .

We decided to stay home and not go up to Adams Lake this weekend due to cold weather.

At least it has also been wet.
Glacier (or anyone who might know) - how are we for precipitation? Are we getting close to normal?

Typical May weather expected by the long weekend
Normal highs by the weekend
Cindy White - May 16, 2022 / 4:00 am
Will we finally get a break from the cooler than normal temperatures?
Maybe, is the answer from Environment Canada.
“There seems to be an indication there could be some improvement towards the end of the week, going into next weekend,” says Environment Canada meteorologist Gregg Walters.
“I mean, obviously, this pattern we’re in cannot last forever, but it seems to be pretty persistent. As a result, things are staying cooler than normal and wetter than normal, as no doubt you’ve noticed. And as everybody’s noticed, actually.”
The unsettled weather pattern is caused by a persistent trough of low pressure off the B.C. coast.
“What that’s doing is it’s kind of rotating moisture onto the coast, which makes its way into the Interior,” explains Walters. He says the trough is preventing a high-pressure system from building.
Monday will be closer to typical temperatures, with a high of 18 C, only slightly below the normal of 20 C. But another system is due to move in Tuesday night, bringing rain. Wednesday’s high is only 12 C.
As we get closer to the long weekend, the forecast calls for gradual warming and clearing. Thursday’s high is expected to reach 15 C, Friday should hit 20 C and Saturday 21, all with a mix of sun and cloud.
Until then, you will likely have to keep the jacket and umbrella handy.

I can honestly predict rain, snow and hail from June 13th to the 26th, sunny by the 27th.
