Big White/Elevation:
Summit: 2,319m (7,606 ft)

Vernon/Elevation
380 m

Kamloops/Elevation
345 m

Know how high you are.
My app says I'm at 456.9 m. Wonder where that Kelowna figure is measured at? :135:

Lets see.........forecast calls for highs in the low 30's for a couple of days.........WHY all the :cuss: warnings about HEAT? Low 30's in Kelowna and much of the valley are NORMAL for the end of June through August. What we experienced for heat on June 29th, 2021 of 45.6 degrees C MAY NEVER HAPPEN IN OUR LIVES OR OUR CHILDRENS LIVES AGAIN...........but I guess the "sky is falling" people need it this way.

Well, I overdid it in the garden today. I had my hat, bandanna, sunblock, and water (I went through 4 Contigo water bottles!). I even pulled out the patio umbrella to make shade where I worked. I guess I wasn't used to the sun, because I got a headache and was dizzy. I finally went inside, showered and took some pain meds (and an antihistamine).

Tomorrow I will start with the umbrella right off the bat.

The over-exaggerated warnings for this heatwave are because it is an abrupt change from the cooler, wet weather we have been experiencing for the past few months, and will be a shock to the system for some people. It had barely even hit 25 degrees so far this year before this, now its going to possibly hit 35 in some areas on Monday. Most years would gradually heat up over the course of the spring, instead of this years pattern of staying relatively cool and then BAM, heatwave.

Yesterday hit 26 for the first time this year. That's the 2nd latest first 26 degree day of the year since records began in 1900.

Fire danger rating is starting to inch up. Now extreme at Alexis Creek in the Cariboo and Afton near Kamloops.

BTW, currently 31 in Vernon, Kelowna, Sechelt, Quesnel and Duncan.

Other places are far hotter. 34 in Osoyoos, Kamloops, Trail, Pemberton, and even Pitt Meadows and Squamish.

35 in Lillooet, 36 in Ashcroft, and 37 in Lytton.

In other words, business as usual.

Just another summer day in paradise.
