Merrifield isn't too bad. It's worse in the 97/33 area.
Seeking the apartment that is creating leasing interest concerns knowledgeable seclusive morons excessively.

This is turning into a Rutland bashing thread again. Right now there are problems with homeless and drug addicted all over the city not just Rutland. Will be watching how many supportive housing projects get placed here though!

Rutland is a relatively affordable area compared to other parts of the city so it is made up of a mixture of families, older people who have lived here for years, and university students. It's a good mixture of down to earth people, many of us care about each other and our neighbours, whom we've probably known for years. Many of us have lived here for a long time, even generations so we know each other. We don't always have the magnificent houses, or the best of jobs, we're not into keeping up with the Joneses, but we are good down to earth people. Also in 20 minutes I can be up at a number of mountain fishing lakes, I can easily exit the city to go to Big White, and we have Athens pool, the sports fields, and rink. We are a nice community, I rue the day that developers start buying up the cheap inventory, letting those properties fall into abandon, and people from outside of our area start changing the character of what we have.

I too have raised two daughters in Rutland. We live in a good neighbourhood, the girls walk, use transit and learned to be street smart and we're not talking Sesame Street here but it made them very aware of their surroundings, whether in Rutland, Downtown or in any city.
