If this amount of snow fell on Central Okanagan in a 24 or even 48hr period of time, skip driving anywhere unless you have snowmobile. Like I said earlier we tend shutdown in 30cm/12".

Any amount of snow means the atv comes out.

4:39 AM PST Tuesday 23 January 2018

Snowfall warning in effect for:

Coquihalla Highway - Hope to Merritt
Snowfall, with total amounts of 15 to 20 cm is expected.

A strong Pacific frontal system is rapidly approaching the SW coast of BC.

Periods of snow will begin falling on highway passes this morning, and become heavy at times this evening and through tonight. The Coquihalla Summit could receive 25 to 35 cm snowfall accumulation, while Allison Pass and Kootenay Pass could receive 20 to 25 cm of snowfall accumulation.

Question: Why does the Coquihalla summit almost always get so much more snow than Allison Pass?

P.S. Very cold this morning -11C at my place in the north Okanagan! Yesterday morning was +2C in the morning.

I don't know. Elevation? Direction/intensity of cold front?
