Why should he be treated differently than anyone else in the department?

He shouldnt. If other firemen are driving drunk and caught for it. They should also be fired. No severance. No bonus. The law needs to apply to everyone. Heck if i fail a drug test i get fired. Even if i havent smoked for a month i still fail. Its happened to me many times. I never get upset about it its just the way it is. Personal responsiblity. Liberals hate that stuff
Now they want to take our guns away . That would be just fine. Take em away from the criminals first . Ill gladly give u mine. "Charlie Daniels"

I don't know but there are disciplinary actions that could have been undertaken and I also don't know if there was compensation.
Can't believe how many times I have to delete some of what you post as it is so inappropriate.

Another Kelowna loser. Sucked in to living the Kelowna life, drinking, gambling, living high on the hog while being unable to afford their own vehicle. Ridiculous. Another man child.
No sympathy.

Career wise he has been. No one will touch him.
People have to understand the whole culture around being a firefighter. It’s not just another job where it’s like “oh well, I’ll just go do something else. These guys live and breath it. It’s a brotherhood and he’s been booted out of that brotherhood. He’s probably even lost the friends he had within the department.
But as I said before, too bad, so sad. Suck it up.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is compensation of some sort given but the media reports also don't give out the whole story either.

Another post about him not able to afford a vehicle. Where is this coming from? People drive company vehicles and some own a personal vehicle as well.lightspeed wrote: Sucked in to living the Kelowna life, drinking, gambling, living high on the hog while being unable to afford their own vehicle.

He probably does own his own vehicle, if married his wife would have a vehicle.
If he owned his own vehicle then why did he choose to take the Chiefs vehicle for a night out on the town?

I agree that was a very poor decision. He was paid out vacation and overtime but lost every other benefit (i.e. medical/dental etc.) and was not given adequate notice. Remains to be seen what exactly was in the contract.

Depends if he is entitled to it or not. The District says one thing, Klonteig another. Now it's up to the court.
