Shootout On Coronation

Post by WalterWhite »

A car load of teens with an airsoft pistol brings out the RCMP ERT, helicopter, K-9 and all available cruisers and is plastered all over every media outlet in town - yet a "shootout" occurs at a residence Saturday night on Cornation St. and the first anyone hears of it is 24 hours later? Maybe time the media lobby for bringing back an RCMP media liaison.

Is it really a shootout if only one person is shooting ?

The headlines were ridiculous. Sensationalism at its worst.

A shootout. One person. I think the tag line I read said "careless use of a gun".

In that situation, is there such a thing as "careful use of a gun"?

Some of Cnets reporting is laughable.

Headlines are now made to grab your attention never mind being accurate ?
As for the "careless use of a gun" isn't that playing down the problem ? The person must have been out on the street in order to shoot through the fence ? Kelowna is sold as a nice laid back quiet little town with the lake, golf & skiing. It's not nice to hear about these things happening.

I don't go to the downtown library anymore, I don't like the needle boxes in the washroom or the person crashed out beside the toilet or those sleeping at the desks. Maybe we aren't supposed to see that ?

How many women would walk by themselves from the Sails over to the Grand Hotel after dark any night of the week & feel safe ?

I am not the sharpest crayon, but I have an idea that the bullet went thru the window, then thru the picket..

Looks fairly clean for a crackshack..

If it is true the male was inside the house then it is also true he shot out of that house. Ergo Shootout and the bullets went out and not in or it would have been a shoot in. Or if they were filming it for a movie it would have been a shoot of the shootout. That's a wrap and not a rap.

If you look closely at the hole in the fence, you will notice that the bullet came from inside the property and out into the street. Small hole upon entry and big hole on exit.

didn't seem like a "shoot out" when I read the original story...

But hey , why would the RCMP want us to know anything other than how "dangerous" it was to the public to float their own boat??

I know several young people in Kelowna, a few with young kids, who would like to rent a house. They'd take good care of it. And not shoot it up.

I guess that the vehicle that was hit was a park by shooting victim.

The hole through the fence in the closeup looks to be an exit.
That would suggest it came from the house towards the street.

Maybe the (intoxicate) resident decided to get in a firefight with his reflection in the glass door?
Two essential strategies for success.

Not to belittle the seriousness of this incident. A shoot out, c'mon Castanet really a more suitable title for the incident would be more fitting. A shoot out would surely involve more than one party shooting at each other. Well I guess the media is trained in sensationalism of events to grab viewers attention.
