It's a public service and has merits. It helps to let the rat-poo listed in the Most Wanted realize there is a hunt for them and hopefully, they'll skip town and will move on to the Alberta Legislature ... with the rest of the rats.

Crime Stoppers Most Wanted also helps to encourage the criminals to rat on each other for the rewards. The reward money Fund is from donations from businesses, people, and yes, government - AKA the taxpayer. But thieving crack-heads and junkies would sell their own first born for 'hit' would sell out a fellow junkie for a few reward dollars. Ever seen what happens with a over-crowded, underfed horde of rats do when hungry? They'll feed on each. Ta Da!

If a rat Rats on another rat and the ratted-on rat gets even with the ratting rat, and that rat goes to jail for it - that's 2 down, 10,000 to go

BTW - if you are referring to the missing page as a waste, it's not the taxpayers fault, Castanet is supported by advertising - and it's their link, not Crime Stoppers at fault. If you were to click on "More Crime Stoppers articles" you'll get a list of Kelowna's finest scum-bags - those are the ones costing the taxpayer - not Crime Stoppers.
