What’s the problem? Did the city issue them a business license so it’s legal.
People now being threatened, you need to hide peoples identity when you post stories like this.


Something needs to be done to stop people screwing in the park, getting poked with needles. Businesses having to move.

it's pretty obvious I see the street folk riding down the street carrying bike parts all the time.....you know, the ones coming and going from the same supply circle in City Park all day long

I don't know why people are surprised cops can't just march onto anybodies property and snoop around or make allegations. As someone who would like a minute alone with any bike thief, be smart and prove it first. Going to Castanet isn't being smart, it is going to tick your neighbor off though.

exactly, without direct evidence linking an individual to stolen property they will never get a warrant to step foot inside the house.

A member of the public can easily burn it down at night though, then the fire investigators and rcmp will attend. We have to take our city back

Price ? OR will exchange bike for drugs, is a pretty good indicator of the legitimacy.

find out who the Landlord is and ask permission to enter the property..also call Bylaw, see what they can dig up to help...

I mean seriously shut this chit down...anybody with a brain knows what's going on...

I had this happening next door to me, along with drug dealing, plenty of other thievery, od's and everything else.. and yes, I called police constantly, as well as crimestoppers, bylaws and anyone else that would listen. NOTHING was resolved until I tracked down the owners in Texas. I made their life a living hell until they sold. I now have a safer family, neighbors and friends. My method isn't for everyone, but it worked for me. ALSO.. last I heard, possession of stolen property was illegal. Law enforcement needs direction!
Maybe there should be a raid at that "shelter" on Leon.. i'd guess that alot of bikes (among other stolen items) could get returned to their rightful owners.

There are about 15 of us who have been watching this convict grinding serial numbers off and repainting bikes from midnight to 4 a.m.
Even those who have warrants for their arrest have visited this squatter who is living in an Illegal basement suite.
We watch bikes being delivered after dark, as well take pictures of the new bikes arriving that get painted a different color right after the serial number gets ground off. Some people even have video footage of these events.

The RCMP didn't even respond to a 911 call for an outstanding warrant for a repeat offender who stayed overnight at this location. It appears that, as long as the wanted convict is out of sight from an officer, nothing can be done.

Along with this "chop shop" is drug dealing, obviously in trade for the newly painted bikes.

I guess that the convict burying stuff in the ground after he read a Facebook post about his operation means nothing!

Bike theft is a serious problem in Kelowna, our Mayor and the RCMP have failed to provide adequate patrols to deter and catch those responsible. To add insult to injury, the criminals have so many rights that the cops can't touch them.

Old school methods might have to be introduced to deter this activity in the future.

In the meantime, lets keep handing out free Methadone, needles and drug paraphernalia to the junkies, so they can keep the circle of theft going!

With the technology today, chips and locators it wouldn't take long to bait a bike or two and then follow them to the local chop shop.

Funny how every homeless buggy jockey has wheels, must be the crypto coin of the downtown. No bike, but I've got wheels for trade. Again, bait a few high end bikes and do them.

Sadly, bike thieves do progress to car thieves, you need to catch them in their early stages and you might save a few of them from climbing the ladder.

We shouldn't have to suggest this, the cops should have already started this Bait Bike program a few years ago.
The powers that be, are failing to provide adequate property crime protection, bike registration doesn't stop junkies from grinding off serial numbers and spray bombing stolen bikes, as to not be identified.
