You cant just stop a job because a few power poles are in a sidewalk, the delay claim from the contractor makes that unfeasible.
No, doing it wrong and having to do it all again is unfeasible.

um, yeah, it is that big of a deal....perhaps you belong to the same "meh" state of mind as the different hires I recently had to call for do-overs. When I'm shelling out big bucks it's definitely a really big deal that it be done properly....actually, if I am hiring someone to do a job who claims expertise then I don't even care how little it might be costing, I still expect the job done properly.

That councillor is doing the right thing. There is the right way and then there is whatever these guys did.
Edited to add; you must be a contractor. You obviously live by the "close enough" motto.

Opportunity to "interrogate the future Council members happening tonight! Not necessarily on this topic....but
There will be a West Kelowna Council Candidates only forum at 6:40 pm tonight at The Westside Alliance Church on Daimler - opposite Constable Neil Bruce Middle School
There are 16 Council Candidates. They did not get the change to speak at last weeks forum except to just read a prepared 90 second speech. This forum will give voters the opportunity to assess candidates as they answer questions .
Please share with all your contacts. We want a good audience. Its been tough setting this up over Thanksgiving....but it will be worth it!

Wow, it's 2018 and they still have those ugly overhead powerlines! The projects I've worked on almost always put the power lines underground.

Heading towards the lake along Harvey just past Burtch, you will see a series of light poles in the middle of the side walk. Been there for years.

Or hey, what about the side walk on Old Okanagan Hwy just below Bayview Village that ends in a wall. That would of been a WFN project.

Think they're more to the curb side and one can still get a wheelchair by.

Re: Boucherie Wine Trail Screw-Up
Now there is a possibility that this was a screw up in the design but if this was an existing pole, it's more likely that the project manager dropped the ball. The city engineers can request that poles be moved but they don't have the authority to do it, that's up to the owners of the utilities located on that pole. So they would have to coordinate with a company like Fortis, Telus, Shaw or the more likely scenario, all three at once. The people who put in the sidewalks have a deadline that may come penalties if not met so they'd have little choice but to pour the concrete around the pole even if the utilities company had not completed their job. Either way, I'm sure they'll be plenty of blame to spread around but at this point we may as well just have some fun with it because it's not really just a pole anymore, it's kind of Pole-ish.

Should be fun to do snow removal there now . Everyone in lakeview will be a bunch of lugers . I am supposing the works were paid for by the wineries .the tax they collect along that corridor probably could have had heated streets .
